Michigan Hockey Open Thread
Michigan Hockey Hosting Ohio State
Yost Ice Arena, 5:05pm, Fox Sports Detroit
Michigan is coming off a somewhat debacle in Columbus where they got smashed, made a great rally, gave it away, before losing in a shootout.
Racine back in net for Michigan
Need a win to keep their pairwise ranking status (still #8) and also to keep pace with Minnesota and Penn State for the Big Ten title.

Sore losers.
Martin's going to be suspended for at least a few games.

Martin is gonna be suspended for a fewgames, I have to imagine. No fighting in college, plus the official was in the middle of it.

Not good with the postgame stuff. Next games are Penn State.

That whole thing was on the refs, there was a lot of cheap shit the last 30 seconds of the game. They needed to call a penalty, stop the game and control it. You could see that coming a mile away. Typical B1G refs....going to be down Martin because they couldn't keep a lid on the game.

I really don't care if you buy it as the proof is in the pudding.
Followed up the loss to them in 2012-13 with a 1-6 stretch and finished with a losing season. Most of those games in that stretch were in embarrassing fashion.
Entered the game in 2013-14 with a 10-2-1 record, lost and went 8-11-4 the rest of the way.
Losing to what is essentially a high school all-star team isn't exact a morale boost.

Agreed. Mid 90's teams used to put up this kind of offense on the regular. But they also had NHL caliber goaltending and strong defense. I'd say the 3rd period turn around in this game was quite promising, but that late goal conceded was ominous.

I missed the game, but it sure seems like both teams decided to play without goalies.

play some defense
Edit: the offense and defense are diverging statistically again. The offense is now a full half goal in front of 2nd place nationally which is just insane. 4.86 vs. 4.29 for Robert Morris. Sadly the defense has tipped from around 31st overall down to 43rd with 3.10 goals allowed per game. In the horrendous Big Ten, that's a dangerous game to be playing

If this team could play an ounce of defense they'd run through the NCAA. At least it seems that way.
