Michigan Hockey hires Brandon Naurato as assistant coach
Michigan hockey announced the hiring of alum Brandon Naurato today to fill the vacant assistant coaching position after former assistant Kris Mayotte took the head job at Colorado College earlier this year.
Naurato played 4 years for the Michigan (06-09) totaling 64 points in 130 games and followed that up with 4 years in the lower levels of the minors. He comes to Michigan following a 3 year stint as a player development consultant in the Red Wings organization, specializing in individual skill development.

Not to hijack the thread and I’m not sure if it’s been announced yet, but they also hired local goaltending coach AJ Walczak away from the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL recently. Before having success in the OHL, Walczak worked with Manny Legace’s goalie school.

They haven’t announced that one yet it seems. Shields was working as our goalie coach in a volunteer capacity previously so that would mean he’s moving on.

Brandon was a guest on a good hockey podcast called The Hockey Think Tank back in April 2019. Episode 49. I don’t recall all the details, but remember being impressed with his perspectives on player development.
