I think that should show you how great of a staff it is, fact was we have got a nfl oc and a previous college oc to come be a position coach for us. Harbaugh has an excellent track record hiring coaches and the fact that fisch is not one of "his guys" actually makes me think he harbaugh sees something in him Enough to pick him over someone he worked with before.

I would have been all in favor of Manning for dline or lb coach. Not sure I'm huge on him if the only position left is CB. Jourdan Lewis made some great strides this year, but feel like Countess, Taylor and Stribling all regressed a bit. Always hard to tell if that's from the scheme/DC or position coach though.

Lewis was a beast, Taylor seemed to get banged up a couple times, and countess was never great at the press coverage they kept trying to run. Its obviously a pretty strong group though, if we can manage to improve the pass rush some i think it could be one of the tops in the conference

Overall, I am really happy with the staff. They are for the most part young with great experience and proven track records. Fisch worry is overblown. The dude was an NFL coordinator. He is going to be a competent WR coach and will probably be able to recruit well. I am really hoping like Yost said and be able to pick up one of the NFL TE coaches that got fired.

Someone said in another post that virtually every coach we have today is an upgrade from Hoke's coaching staff.

While I agreed with his main comment, I noted that it's an interesting question whether you even have to qualify that statement with the word "virtually".

What a welcome turn of events!
