This PWO is actually a little more important than the others because Baldeck is a long-snapper. You might never hear his name but I'd say his chances of seeing the field are a little higher than the other PWO's.

Yes, there is a maximum. The maximum is about 20. You have 85 scholarships, and preferred walk-ons can make up the 20-ish players you can add to the 105-man roster allowed to begin on the first day of practice. You can have more than 105 players on the team, but they can't practice until after the first day of the fall semester. So anyone who's walk-on #21 or #25 or whatever misses a few weeks of practice. And if you miss a few weeks of practice as a walk-on, you're REALLY far behind.

EDIT: I say 20-ish because if you only have 83 scholarship players, for example, due to attrition, then you can have 83 scholarship players + 22 walk-ons.

but that also adds a lot of work during the offseason.

Not sure really how many players from Muskegon Catholic have played at UM. I know Reinhold was a hell of a player, but Bo gave two ships to a couple of their All-State Linemen a few years later, VanderLeest and Bohach. Neither, of course, played at the level they did in h.s., and for the most part were probably no better than third string.

I remember Bohach, in an effort to get more field time, asked to try out and won the long-snapper position. With that honore, UM would senh him home during the summer with somewhere around 50 footballs and he was expected to snap about 200 times a day. Something tells me he didn't need the supervision.

Wondering if you could get that type of commitmee from a PWO without the added schooly.
