META: New website ads-same as the old?

Submitted by IA-Maize on

With the new website I thought I could get rid of the old ads from 2.0-alas no! I am still getting ads for women's clothes-swimsuits, CIA version khaki's, and shoes.

Thank God the Ginger from Feelin Good Tees still greets me!

What say you? new or old ads?

So far, the biggest change wrt ads (at least on the mobile site vs. using the app) is that there isn't an obnoxious banner that randomly jumps into the middle of the screen. I also haven't gotten any random pop-up ads (so far, at least).

Can't comment on whether or not the ads themselves have changed.

If you don't want ads for women's clothes-swimsuits, CIA version khaki's, and shoes, stop searching for women's clothes-swimsuits, CIA version khaki's, and shoes on your browser.

if you want different ads then clear your browser history including cookies and then go to sites more in line with the type of ads you want to see.  you should get a different batch of ads.  or they just really know what you want to see in your banner ads....

i turned off ad-blocker after feeling a little guilty about helping MGoBlog with ad revenue and just got the man-butt ad for the first time.  i cleaned out my browser history prior to as well so it must be a targeted ad of some sort.  very strange.  wouldn't think MGoBlog users would fit in their target demographic.

You see the swimsuit ads too!  My wife was shopping for swim suits before we went to Florida.  I thought I was being retargeted from her cookies.   I got depressed every time I saw an ad for a matronly swim suit.  (She's put on some weight recently.)
