Men's Lacrosse Hosts Detroit-Mercy 1PM on BTN+
So, a little late but the men's lacrosse team is hosting Detroit-Mercy at the State Street facility today. And after one quarter M is up 6-1. The game is being streamed on BTN+. WHO LIKES OUTDOOR LACROSSE IN FEBRUARY IN THE STATE OF MICHIGAN IN19-DEGREE WEATHER!!??!!! AWWW YEAH!!!
Anyway, Michigan exploded for 22 goals in the opener last week against Bellarmine, a program record. They were led by Josh Zawada who had 5 goals and 5 assists(!). and The men are expected to finish 4th in the conference this year. Michael Boehm added 6G(!) and 3A of his own. Blowouts don't really tell you much but Michigan could have something brewing offensively here this season. Detroit is coming off an 18-7 season opening loss to Ohio State.
GO BLUE!

Michigan is up 19-5 in the 4th so I'm gonna call it for M.
In other news, their early schedule is shaping up to look very easy. Canisius, Cleveland State and Holy Cross all got wiped out today and Marquette needed 3 overtimes to get by Bellarmine who Michigan stomped last week. HC lost 28-5 to Syracuse (which is one of the wildest scores I've ever seen in D-1) so expect a lot of goals from M again next week. If they can cruise through this portion of the schedule, they can build up some confidence for the Harvard-Delaware-ND stretch at the end of OOC play. The bad news is that Maryland absolutely crushed a top-10 Loyola team today. But, that's a problem for later.
Hopefully this will be a fun season. GO BLUE!

I watched a little bit of the MD game. They are ranked #2 and played a tomato can, scoring 20 goals when I turned it off.

Uh...Loyola is not a tomato can. They are #8.

Just because they made them look like a tomato can, doesn’t mean they are one. That was a top 10 opponent.

Exciting game, but really no chance for UDM who couldn’t win face offs and only cleared at around 50%. Our ride is creating a lot of offense against weaker competition. Not sure that is sustainable against the big10 teams, but regardless, good to see us blow a team like this out from the start.

Bellarmine? So we’re just making up names now?
