MBB #25 in AP poll
Let's go.
http://collegebasketball.ap.org/poll
EDIT: So they screwed up. We're actually not #25. FSU is because they beat up mid majors.
Beilein teams respond well to disrespect. Gotta pound SCAR and Mount St. Mary's this week and we're in.
EDIT #2: These people don't know what they're doing. Now we're T-25 in the AP poll. Okay?

Should be higher, IMO, but whatever. It'll happen.
Wonder what source they pulled the records from?

think people are going to wait to see if they can keep it up. Marquette and SMU are solid but they are not exactly world-beaters. This is good. Gives them some recognition but keeps them hungry. To early to read press-clippings.

the fact that they so soundly defeated the #41 and #42 teams, per KenPom, is impressive. Last year, Michigan beat just one team rated better than #42, per KenPom final season rankings - #19 ohio state in late February.
Otherwise, it was #45 Oregon, #53 Syracuse, #60 Illinois, and then a bunch of teams rated worse than Michigan's #74 rating.
They also lost to 138 EMU and 172 NJIT early on. I don't think we'll see a repeat of those performances.
I'm slightly more optimistic than "cautiously". If this frontcourt play and defense keeps up, this could be a really good team.

Those losses were two years ago.

I'm pretty sure I was at the game that they beat Purdue.
November 21st, 2016 at 10:14 PM ^
with the 4 wins being over Top 25 ish teams.
Pretty darn good for a bubble team. The problem was there was a large drop off from there, with the rest of our "best quality" wins coming from beating bottom B1G teams we should beat. And then there were the wins over the non-conference RPI 300ish tomato cans.
November 21st, 2016 at 12:49 PM ^
We are still #25, tied with FSU. AP's website finally got their shit together. All the records are fixed and everything else. http://collegebasketball.ap.org/poll

Wow, can't believe they're that low.
November 21st, 2016 at 12:53 PM ^
That MSU is ranked above us, after getting beaten badly by two ranked teams and literally needing to steal a win at home against FGCU last night is the greatest injustice since the founding of the United States of America!
(OK, this might have been hyperbole...)
November 21st, 2016 at 1:28 PM ^
I, for one, am not going to stand here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America!
Gentlemen!

on the AP website. W-L records for just about every team are wrong.
November 21st, 2016 at 12:39 PM ^
yeah im not sure where they get 2-1 from
November 21st, 2016 at 12:45 PM ^
Maybe they confused Michigan with MSU...wait, they are 2-2, sorry. (and could have been 1-3).
November 21st, 2016 at 12:33 PM ^
On the topic of basketball umhoops does good things and they are running their annual fundraiser. Know its tought to think about not football right now but its a good site.
November 21st, 2016 at 12:37 PM ^
So not a single undefeated team in the top 25. Each of the top 3 teams are 2-2. Gonzaga at 11 with a 1-3 record.
And all this on November 21st. Even with early tournaments, I don't recall seeing results like that in an early-season poll.
[EDIT - That's because the team records are shite. Totally inaccurate. Has Michigan at 2-1, which ... waaaaaahhhtttt?]
November 21st, 2016 at 12:37 PM ^
Those records are incorrect, aren't they?
November 21st, 2016 at 12:39 PM ^
I know the MSU record of 2-2 is acurate, but yeah - it's a total charley-foxtrot as far as team records go.

Eh. College basketball polls couldn't matter less. It's fun to be #1, but otherwise they don't mean anything. I'm much more excited to see that #15 rank in KenPom, including the #33(!) Defense.
November 21st, 2016 at 12:57 PM ^
Sort of like all football polls, except the CFP's.

to say that I was completely wrong about this team thus far. I am ignorant, an asshole, slightly overweight, and I shall eat a bushell of lemons throughout the season.
November 21st, 2016 at 12:48 PM ^
just not on camera.
But seriously for a second, we are unranked? The pollsters have seen 25 better basketball teams that us this season? Where? When? I thought we would be like 21 or 22, I was OK with 25 I guess. But unranked? Huh.

Per ESPN, which seems to have the records right, Michigan is actually not in there (first in others receiving votes or #26).

ESPN has different AP rankings for some reason. In their version of the AP rankings, we're the first unranked team.

#26

or in the others receiving votes - it has FSU at #25

Putin hacked the AP top 25 site. Obviously.

It's not just MSU being above us that doesn't make sense. It's MSU being ranked. They only managed to get to 2-2 by cheating to squeak past FGCU at home. Total garbage team.
November 21st, 2016 at 1:12 PM ^
Who the hell does St. Mary's have on their team?

given the ESPN studio guys were calling them a top 10 team after their last win. I'm not saying they belong there either but just squeaking in is rather curious.
