MBB: 2014 PF Donte Grantham to Clemson

Another miss for the 2014 basketball recruiting class, but having Kameron Chatman in the fold makes it sting a lot less. One wonders if the coaching staff will get in touch with Treyvon Bluiett again.

They have had a little history. Curtis Staples, Eldon Cambell, and  Dale Davis come to mind. When you are in a conference with UNC, Duke, Wake, Maryland, & NC St it's easy to be forgotten. It doesn't mean there isn't some history.  They also recently made the tournament. I believe Michigan beat them two years ago.

Why exactly is there this assumption that they will both stay healthy and get better? I'm betting on it too but there is precedent. Tim Hardaway regressed his sophomore season.

BTW, Hatch is not coming here on a basketball schollie. That is the most "let's be honest" part of this story. So the remaining scholarship count sits at 1.

Probably 2-3. One 2-guard (Devin Booker, James Blackmon Jr, or Javon Bess), one bigger post-player (a guy who can play the 4 or 5 or both - likely DJ Wilson), and maybe another wing (3/4). They need to fill GRIII's shoes at the stretch 4, and may take two to do that.

DJ Wilson, who will likely commit this weekend, is that sort of player. And Kameron Chatman can potentially play the 4, although it seems like the coaches will play him more at guard (even some point guard potentially).

I like to think this sets the stage for some good karma with Booker.

Grantham was choosing between long-time recruiters and a hot program (us!) new to the party on him. He went with the long-time admirers and what was closer to his mother. Booker picking Michigan over Kentucky would be seem to be the same basic scenario.
