M's Record as A.P. #19.

Submitted by J.W. Wells Co. on

So you're telling me there's a chance...

Going in to a tough game at night at Happy Valley, Michigan is ranked #19 by the AP.

Since Bo arrived in 1969, Michigan's record when holding the AP #19 ranking is 14-2-0, for a percentage of .875.  That's a better record for U-M than any other spot in the rankings save for #25, which has a very small 4-0-0 sample size.  Lucky #19 it is!

Last win as #19:  October 5, 2013 vs. Minnesota, 42-13

Last loss as #19:  January 1, 2013 vs. South Carolina (Outback Bowl), 33-28

Penn State is ranked #2 by the AP.  Since 1969 U-M has a pretty respectable record against the AP #2, at 4-5-0, for a percentage of .444.

Last win vs. #2:  September 16, 2006 at Notre Dame, 47-21

Last loss vs. #2:  November 26, 2016 at Refs, 30-27, 2OT

Yippee. Another MSU troll. I have noticed many more since we lost to MSU. They will go away when UM beats MSU next season. MSU trolls are an unfortunate side effect of losing to that terrible team.

But what is there record at AP #19, coaches #15, at night, on the road, vs the #2 team in the country, with a 2nd string QB, coming off an OT road win while wearing all white, on the 3rd Saturday in October, with temps in the mid 50s, and a 5% chance of precipitation? Riddle me that.

In my experience, when we scramble to find reasons or anecdotal data to provide optimism against an upcoming big opponent, the outcome is usually disappointing.

I have bad feeling about Saturday.

I hope I'm wrong.

Oh you're wrong man.  You couldn't be more wrong if your ass was on backwards.

I think we have a chance.  We can run the ball.  We have this week to make the passing game more viable for JOK.  Our Defense and Special Teams along with a call or bounce our way and we can be in this thing.  And God knows we are so overdue for a break to go our way.

It will be Nordin at the horn from 52 to give PSU the ultimate dong punch.

you do better than the best thing your opponent does.  For Penn State, their best thing is Barkley running and receiving.  Can Higdon get more yards than him?  Can the UM D limit Barkley receiving yards?

Will be interesting how they pass cover him and the TE Giseki.  If UM can limit these 2 guys they have a shot.

And to win, UM may need a 50+ field goal - Nordin was a one time Penn State commit.

We have a lot talent on the team, and as good as the PSU offense it, our defense is better. Cimbing aboard your wagon this week J. W.  cuz it sounds like more fun, and we have ballers on defense coached by the best defensive staff in the country.
