Lunardi has M as 1 Seed in West

Not sure how much he worries about location rather than just seeding but Joe has Mich in Anaheim as the one seed and Gonzaga as the 2. Interesting he has Texas Tech as the 5 seed in the same division. Thinking that would be a first to 50 wins type sweet sixteen match-up...

Gonzaga and Duke are teams I don't want in our region.

People don't really pay attention to Gonzaga much, but they've played most of the season without one of their best guys, Killian Tillie. Yes, UNC beat Gonzaga on UNC's court, and Tennessee did the same, but they're legit. They're a team I don't want to draw

Right now it feels like there is a top tier of 6 teams.  One of those is MSU, who we’re not going to draw in the regionals.  If we’re a 2-seed, we’re virtually guaranteed to draw one of Duke, UVA, Gonzaga, or Tennessee.  Of the four I’d pick Tennessee.  If we’re a 1-seed, the hope needs to be that we draw a 2-seed out of this top 6 tier.

But really when you’re a top-2 seed and you’re worried about which other top seed you want to avoid, the pickings become slim, because of course those teams are all about equally good.  At the same time, odds are one or both of you won’t make it to the Round of 8 where you would match up, so it’s a bit of wasted energy worrying that far along in the bracket.

I definitely agree that Gonzaga is legit.  They're really good. I would bet on Michigan against any of those teams.  And if they played today, I probably would take the younger teams, But I think Gonzaga has a lower ceiling than UK and UNC, which have the talent to be better (and potentially more dangerous) come March.  We'll see how those teams continue to improve.

But as for the team we smoked, remember UNC smoked Michigan at home last year early in the year and who won the regional?

I'd rather take a 2 in the Midwest.  The 1993 team didn't look all that great until their OT win vs. Kentucky.

Yeah, you know what would happen if we play our first round in Columbus, right?  The stadium will be bought out by all the OSU fans who will treat it as their "home again" against UM.  The place would be a madhouse.

EDIT:  I see now this was posted above.  But this post should remain for emphasis.  'Cause its true!

I could get down with this. #1 in the West.

In other news, when asked at his press conference this week about the rampant rape culture in around the MSU campus, Tim Izzi responded "I am praying for the victims" while donning his teal ribbon.

I don't think they stick as a 1 because they'll lose a game or two in the conference slate that wasn't totally expected.  Still, it really doesn't matter where they wind up because it is such a large fanbase they can always have a nice atmosphere.

Staples Center was probably the best home court we've had in a Sweet Sixteen weekend in the modern era and Anaheim is just down the road.

West is much better than Midwest (with Kansas in Kansas City) or South (with Kentucky/Tennessee in Louisville) even though they're closer.

West or East!

As the team sits right now I would not want a 1 seed

We can go through some NASTY shooting slumps. We saw last year with Virginia what happens when a defensive team cant shoot and a 16 seed catches fire
