[? LOCKED] RUMOR: If Harbaugh was to leave, Matt Rhule would be interested

The current head coach of the Carolina Panthers and did a hell of a job, imo, with Baylor after the Briles scandal. This would be a hell of a replacement and would be us walking into our own version of Tressel to Urban.

I personally don’t want Harbaugh to leave, but this would be best case scenario if true.

I don't have particularly strong feelings about Rhule, but comparing Harbaugh > Rhule to Tressel > Rhule makes zero sense. Meyer was coming off a stint winning 2 national championships with an SEC school. Rhule's resume consists of a couple (albeit reasonably impressive) reclamation projects and what looks like a failing NFL head coaching gig.

Maybe I’m going against the grain on this, but I have him below my Yaklich-Gattis Line. He was at Baylor for only 3 seasons, had one very good year (though he went 0-3 against top-25 teams), and then left for the NFL, where he hasn’t done well at all. Baylor was awful the year after he left before replicating his success this season. Does one very good season at a private university in Texas mean he would be guaranteed to succeed at a public university in Michigan? Plus, even if he did well, how long would it take before he goes back to the NFL?

The "if smoke, then fire" of Rhule looking at college jobs, smells more like "if fumes, then a pile from somebody's asshole". And comparing Harbaugh to Tressel while comparing Rhule to Meyer is dubious. Nice try...

Please re-post this RUMOR in today's Harbaugh thread.

Until Harbaugh actually signs a dotted line, we're trying our best to limit (to one daily) the number of speculative Harbaugh threads.
