I don't believe they would bury any positive results - too risky if someone involved in the testing process notices and calls them out.

As someone who has taken a few covid tests by now (including PCR), I can say with certainty that any of the oral tests (not nasal) can be easily compromised into a false negative by the person being tested if they wished.  All it takes is some water or other fluid a few minutes prior to the test.

I could definitely see individual athletes doing this - either independently or with encouragement by someone within the coaching staff.

And some people get it WAY too much. When you’re a supposed “blue blood” college football program and haven’t won your conference in 16 years, there’s something very wrong. Talking about beating a shitty Ohio St QB doesn’t help the current situation. It just makes for a nice but pretty much meaningless memory. LONG overdue for some new memories.

Screw that. Don't adjust the regular season schedule to placate OSU. Have OSU play Wisconsin in Week 9. UW laid an egg against NW, but they would be a far tougher opponent for OSU.

The B1G East was dog poo this year and based on quality of schedule, OSU should be slotted lower than a 1-loss Clemson or ND without a win against UW. If Florida beats Alabama, OSU should be shut out of the CFP completely.

While the article noted the source didn't know the breakdown between players, coaches, and staff, it's safe to assume it spread rather quickly if it went from 1 to 12 in the matter of a couple of days.

Again, hope all involved recover quickly and safely.

UM Indy brings up a great point about OSU. All the other Big Ten teams with an outbreak missed two games but OSU is good to go after only missing one. I have zero doubt they would try and hide positive tests. However, they are desperate enough to make the playoffs and they probably figure they can beat MSU and Michigan even with a reduced roster. This is where their advantage in recruiting and building depth pays off. They can trot out another 5 star if a starter is out. Besides Ryan Day we don’t seem to know who else is out. It seems like Fields is playing so they figure as long as he plans they should be good. If they were down to their 4th string QB it may be an issue. But even then I would still pick them to beat Michigan. Even if the Michigan vs OSU game is canceled the Big Ten will let them schedule another conference opponent or they will simply change the rules to help OSU. Nothing bad ever happens to them and I am fucking tired of it.

I don't think they'll play tomorrow.  They're waiting until the last minute, their plane isn't scheduled to leave Columbus until 9 pm tonight, for a noon kick off in East Lansing tomorrow.

Thing is they're screwing Maryland and MSU who could have played each other tomorrow if OSU would have called the game off a few days ago.  The MSU and Maryland game was canceled last week because of a Maryland outbreak, but Maryland is ready to go now.

I saw the defense observe safe distancing against Penn State, so there’s that.

Seriously, here’s to swift and full recoveries for all concerned - I feel bad for anyone afflicted with this.

Unless it’s Kirk Herbstreit. He’s an asshole who reaps what he sows. He deserves at least a mild form of it or some kind of STD, hell even ED. That punk motherfucker needs to just take off his scarlet and gray glasses and call games down the middle and have some integrity and just keep his mouth shut about what he thinks Michigan might do and just report what Michigan has done. His two cents are things he can talk about with his buddies when he doesn’t have a microphone in front of his face. Why doesn’t he talk about when he was the QB at OSU and how Michigan demolished him like the little bitch that he is. He was on his back so much he could probably tell you how many times and the time of the day the good year blimp was flying over the stadiums in his lackluster performances. Maybe he could wear his gold pants charm next time he talks shit about Michigan. Oh wait, he never won those. Can’t stand these talking heads who talk out of their ass. They are full of spite because they couldn’t get the job done so now they live vicariously through the guys they wish they were but didn’t have the talent to be. You’re not on the team anymore douchebag. Just report the truth and not fake news!!

But I thought Harbaugh, the medical genius, had developed super duper incredible safety protocols and we were doing so great with this?  We just touted how well we were doing whenever another team had an outbreak.

Or, this is a global pandemic and if you're getting people together you can't do much to stop the spread.

Did our players go home for Thanksgiving?  Because our players are likely to be fine, their elderly relatives not so much.

By some miracle, if MSU beats OSU this weekend, would OSU still make Big 10 finals?

Also, if Michigan couldn't play the game, couldn't OSU possibly schedule someone else?  (assuming  anther Big teams would be sitting on the 12th.)

The Big Ten will do whatever it takes to get OSU in the playoff. Hopefully Michigan cancels their game against OSU. If that happens I am assuming the Big Ten will let OSU schedule another conference opponent if one is available, or will simply change the rules to let OSU play for the Big Ten title.

Rivals site is reporting that insiders are indicating Covid outbreak is not under control and the OSU game will not be played.  Coaches are hoping to play the cross-over game, but even that is in doubt and the season may be over.
