He was not the coordinator I would’ve expected to end up on this list from Michigan.

Remember the Revenge Tour? When they thought they had built the perfect offense about mid-season and it never really changed even when we'd put 6 games on tape for OSU to study?
Yeah, don't do that and I'll be pretty happy with Gattis. His adjustments in the run game to what PSU was doing took awhile, but they were real effective once he got it rolling.

You could say the same thing about the defense in 2018. That was a nightmare that I hope we don't relive this year.

58 nominees? I guess the Broyles award people are in favor of an expanded playoff.

Yeah, I'm more caught up in the RPS debate, but now that you mention it, it doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment to be merely somewhat above average.

According to the ESPN Football Power Index that is our superior side of the ball efficiency wise (ranked #8 vs #12 for defense)

I must say Gattis has in ways won me over. His new style of offense ain't as flashy or explosive as we were expecting from him when we hired him but he's now playing to his team's strengths, and given how much physical defenses have made a comeback (Wisconsin and Penn State are top 10 in defensive efficiency) this year in college football, he's definitely held his own. I hope he can finally break that curse that seems to follow former Bama assistants

Based on much of the griping over the lack of passing offense I figured he would be up for the Broiled Award as his seat warms up.
