Jordan Glasgow Presser: On The Defense

Submitted by NeverPunt on August 28th, 2019 at 10:02 AM

Summary:

What would he say to people who think they'll take a big step backwards based on who they lost?  That wouldn't be correct in any shape or form. Every year you lose big people. We still have a lot of great football players, people will step up.

Thoughts on the CB position and the secondary? We ask a lot of those guys and he's glad he doesn't have to do what they do. It's pretty amazing what they can accomplish game in and game out.

From his perspective is the defense any different this year from a schematic perspective?  Every year everyone adds a little something to the repertoire, we have added things year by year, trying to improve.

Anything specific that Don's added? Nothing he'd care to share.

Josh Ross: Where has he grown most?  He was great last year, taken more of a leadership role. People would be amazed to learn how much you grow in the summer in watching film, working out and he's reaped the benefits.

The MLB has a lot of responsibility - how's Josh handling that? He's played it last year - in the bowl game, when Devin would take a blow last year. He's captured it a little more and he's doing really well.

On Cam McGrone: He's a hell of an athlete. If he was older he'd already one of the best players on the D. He's just young and still learning some things.

What's his eval of the RBs, of Zach? We're going to surprise a lot of people at different positions. Zach and Christian are great, still have Tru, and people will see how good our RB room is. Zach learned a lot in spring even though he wasn't practicing. He probably benefited a lot from being in early.

Don said he's never seen a back 7 that's more in sync. What's Jordan's take? A lot of the people in the back 7 have played together for several years, all got on the field at the same time and that leads to a strong bond. Good friends, and they have a good rhythm.

Career after football when it's all said and done? Nah focused on football, the next practice, the next game, and he'll deal with that stuff when footballs done.

Who's impressed him most in camp? Everyone (even though he knows it sounds like a cop out answer).

Growth from Devin Gil?  He's faster, quicker. Hard to say what improvements because he sees him everyday and sees little things. Expects it to be a big contrast from last year when he's back in there this season.

Did Devin cover for them because of his abilities to go sideline to sideline?  Maybe, but he thinks they'll be just as good as last year, they cover for each other. They can be as effective as last year as a group.

How as the offense evolved? They're competing with the D really well, the scheme is improved from last year, and the players have improved from last year. Experienced receivers, good TEs, and with the difference in scheme and the more experience on offense, it's gonna be a scary offense.

On Shea: He's kept his head down and just learned the new offense and taking care of business.

Impressive Freshman?  There will be some DL and DB's you might see. Turner, Mazi Smith, another D-Lineman you might see. It's tough to come in and play right away because they ask a lot of the players.

One more question I'd like to have Jordan Glasgow answer:

Are there any more Glasgows and when will they be ready and able to play for Michigan?
