What do you think he is saying?

A. "We are still dipping our toes until it gets sorted out legally, but once it does, Game ON"

B. "Those who come will be NIL rich because our boosters are richer than yours are"

C. "Santa came just in time, Those Open Pit bags at the BBQ aren't full of Sauce"

D. "I had too much sauce up North"

Per usual for UM, brilliant.

Per usual for Harbaugh - weird, but we love our weird.

Let the media write 1000 hit pieces on how UM is "falling behind in recruiting".

Let these other schools "seem like" they are "out front" of UM on NIL - then snap!

"Oh really, we can double that".

Let's freaking Go!

Go Blue.

I know NIL is the present and the future. But more than any other season I’d put my $$ on whatever team has the most experienced returning roster to win it all. I keep asking the question. How do you coach an 18yr old that shows up to practice in a Bentley with an entourage? The lever that gave CFB head coaches the ability and authority to push these kids to become great is gone. It used to be “follow my leadership and buy in, I’ll get you to the next level $$” Now these kids are arriving having, by their definition, already made it. Watch and see. There will be more than 1 team chucked full of high $$ 5*s that will suck ass this year. Army will beat them because their coach, now managing a roster of divas, won’t be able to get the time & practice commitment to learn the option. This season could be full of unexpected surprises. I’ll be extra conscious of penalties, sloppy/lost play, discipline issues on the field etc. to see if coaching staffs struggle like I think many will.

School A offers $1 million to attend and play football with a guarantee

School B offers the chance to earn $2 million in a year or two when they're sure you're good

Which F'ing school will the 17 year old kid choose in a sport with a high rate of injury.

Well not only that, but if you go to School A, its not like you're going to be capped at $1 million. That's not the definitive end of the transaction.

If you get on the field and you're good enough to keep playing, the deals that you would've gotten at Michigan will come rolling in, anyway.

So there might be plenty of kids who tell Harbaugh "I appreciate that I can make $2 million in a couple of years, but A&M is offering me $1 million guaranteed, along with the possibility you're offering right now of making $2 million a year, maybe even more, when I get on the field and prove myself. So I'm not sure what you're offering that they aren't."

That's great if possible, but I'm not sure how its going to sway a 17-18 year old kid who's looking for money upfront like a ton of other schools are doing.

I'm not advocating for any particular stance here, but the point is when a high school kid is presented with the options of getting a $1 million upfront before he sets foot on campus, or betting on himself and waiting to collect potentially $2 million after he gets on campus, a lot of kids are going to take option A and never look back. The way they see it, if they're good enough they'll collect that $2 million that Michigan was going to give them anyway. Maybe even more.

Don't get me wrong, I get what Harbaugh is doing, and its great to know that money is there. I just don't think it's going to make much of a difference in the eyes of any recruit who is looking for upfront money. Occasionally you might get a kid who is willing to bet on himself, but I'm not sure how often that'll be.
