Interesting USA Today article about RR's speech

Submitted by kaykaybroke on

interesting story about the reactions to RR's speech, didn't like the criticism part, but liked the Schilling quote at the very end:

"Great experience," Schilling said. "The wins and losses haven't gone our way, but it's a good experience. I believe in Coach Rod and the system and what he's doing here with the coaches, and I think there will be a lot of success in the future if he's able to stay here."

alot of people were speculating whether the players should show their support or not.. I think it's great that Schilling has stepped up to his leadership role, and hopefully became an example for other teammembers to follow suit.

God, is that a self-centered way of looking at the world. As if they all just sit around with baited breath, waiting for the members of this board to chime in.

1) The articles appeared shortly after the bust ended. So, no, you're wrong.

2) But let's say you were accurate. If the articles were prompted by this board ("blowing up"), then it would follow that this was indeed a viable news item.

Logic, dude.

The priceless part of the article is this:

Groban also took a mild swing at Rodriguez on his Twitter account.

"Coach Rodriguez, I'm very flattered but crying to You Raise Me Up is SO five years ago. #playwelcometothejungle"

I never heard of Groban until all this happened.  It appears that he has enjoyed some success in the music industry--success that I was completely and blissfully unaware of until the football bust.  When his monstrous talent is counterbalanced against the fact that so many have lived their day-to-day lives unaware of his existence, one can only draw a single conclusion--he is a ninja.

A ninja who deserves to have his very little dong punched by a very little hand.

Weren't cheesy singalongs like this a regular occurance at USC when Pete was there? ESPN even did a feature on that Lean on Me lovefest. It was called inspiring, and a great sign of team unity then. What gives now? Amazing how a couple of extra wins this year would have shaped the fallout of the banquet.

It's funny how the only ones who don't find RR's bust behavior odd or embarrassing are a segment of people on this board. Sometimes a little perspective helps.

...perspective would also suggest that we examine the behavior displayed at all football award banquets/busts and judge them on soundbites of their respective sappiest moments as well.

Either there would be a few more embarrassed coaches/athletes out there sharing the spotlight...or maybe Coach Rodriguez's behavior wouldn't appear so abnormal.
