Great hire for IU, but I'm not sure what Cignetti finds compelling about this job. Can anyone name the last IU head coach who wasn't fired (aside from Terry Hoeppner, who tragically passed away after the 2006 season)? I sure can't.

Coach Hart will get his head coaching job some day (perhaps soon) and it will be better than IU.  In the meantime, I am excited that he will be coaching for our team.  He is a great coach and individual.

I just don't see how anyone succeeds at these types of programs anymore.  You work your tail off to either find diamonds in the rough, or develop them.  Then if you actually succeed, any big program that has a hole to plug comes around and takes them.

For Cignetti this is a retirement paycheck. I don't think he intends to use that job as a springboard for anything other than yachting in the Caribbean when it's all done with. If you look at his resume, you'll notice he probably has never made a ton of money at any of his gigs. This is his last chance at a big salary.

He's done a solid job at JMU, but they're also a hyper ambitious program spending a lot of money on football in a competitive environment where most schools aren't. In B1G terms Indiana is probably the opposite. In the new 'enhanced' B1G it's difficult to see them win more than 7 games in any season.

Mike Hart has a good destiny. No one knows how the 2024 season will shake out at Michigan. It will all start with Jim's future.

Everything is just click bait.

The Hoosiers could use new blood and this is a good hire for them.

IUs schedule next year looks like this:

FIU - W

Western Illinois - W

UCLA - Toss-up

Charlotte - W

Maryland - Loss

Northwestern - Toss-up

Nebraska - Toss-up

Washington - Loss

Michigan State - Toss-up

Michigan - L

Ohio State - L

Purdue - W

I have them at 4 wins, 4 toss-ups depending on how off-seasons play out, and 4 losses. If they split the toss-up games they’ll be bowl eligible in his 1st season. He’s an extremely good coach that gets the most out of his players. I can easily see him being bowl eligible in year one at 6-6. Honestly I could see him winning all 4 toss-ups depending on transfers at each school.

If he could go 7-5 in year one of the Big Ten that would be an extremely solid start. IU would be fine consistently going 5-7 to 8-4 every year if they went bowling 2 out of 4 years.
