Comparison of 3 EDGE's in the 40. Hutch is off the line first, a full body ahead of the other 2. They don't catch him until the 20 yard mark.

A man who knows how to burst out of the gate!

And there's this explosion out of the gate. He seems at full speed on the second while everyone else accelerates like regular humans.

Here that quick burst shows up in the 3 Cone and Short Shuttle:

"He has the 3-cone and short shuttle of a slot receiver. Ridiculous."

How does he do it? Well, someone's got quads!

Clicked "save" by accident before I finished. It would have added this:

Goodbye Aidan. I never knew there would be a Michigan player I would love more than Chase Winovich.

Also, this was intended to be after this line:

Such an all-time great Wolverine.  Not only his athletic gifts and performance, but his leadership as well. Hopefully, he has helped set the stage for sustained success for the program.  Wish him an incredible NFL career.

Just want to say, all time great Wolverine, one who helped give me a football memory that I will always carry with me in my fandom, like what more can you say,  except thanks, for the way he carried himself and the hard work put in as a Wolverine and finally beating oh how I hate, Ohio st. Was an amazing day and week after. We needed it

What a year he gave us. Really hope he turns into an annual Pro Bowl level guy.

Speaking of the combine, did you guys see the numbers the Georgia DL/Edge guys put up? All 3 of them, but their interior guys were just stupid. Jordan Davis ran a 4.78 40 at 6’6 341. Their other DT ran a 4.77 at 304 lbs. To put that into perspective, Patrick Mahomes ran a 4.8 during his combine.

I can’t stress enough just how different elite athletes are. Moving that fast and quick at those sizes is mind boggling.

That tweet about him 'singing or being mad' before putting 75 on his ass was dumb.  The tweeter should have just watched the whole clip - the QB pointed him out, telling the OL where he was.  Hutch just answered - yep I'm right here and I'm going in that direction...

What a beautiful play that was...

Go get 'em, Aidan! Go Blue!

(Is it just me with my Nebraska past, or does "combine" feel like a strange noun to use for player assessment? Are they cut, threshed, and cleaned?)

I know I shouldn’t be, but I’m pleasantly surprised by those numbers. I had a suspicion that Aiden would be one of those players that wouldn’t test as well as he played.

I remember his recruiting profile mentioning  long speed and athleticism as his one knock, and I do remember a few times where he seemed a bit slow in open space. Not that relevant when his initial burst is that good, but the 4.75 40 and 3 cone drill are particularly surprising. Aidan truly was one of the most talented players we’ve had in a long time.

Conversely, I’m surprised he didn’t do the bench press, as I think he would have crushed it. I remember the viral video of him doing a Turkish getup with 135lbs and no clips on the bar which is nuts. Add to it the fact he played NT effectively at times as a sophomore, that play where he knocked the osu tackle on his ass, and his generally bull rush, I would think his strength is off the charts. Maybe it’s a long arm thing.

It's not that I don't watch pro football a little, and enjoy it. But--I can't be alone in this--performing all of these feats for a team and school you really believe in just holds a lot more magic for me than the business that is the NFL.

@rob6reid. He is slow in the open field. Once you get past him he looks like he is running in slow motion.

He reminds me of Barry Sanders as a D-lineman. Full speed in one step is freakish and rare.

I was leary of the Lions taking him at No 2 because I think he has a high bust chance, but I've changed my mind over the last couple days. He's worth the shot. If he works out he'll be one of those guys we'll remember.

Prepare for two months of "Travon Walker to the Lions" hype.

But Hutch checks all boxes other than elite bend. He's faster, quicker and better in coverage and against the run than both Bosa brothers.

He's going to make some team very happy with several years of dominant edge play.
