"Here's my opinion on this topic"

Submitted by iheartlarryfoote on

I made a post about how spartan fans have been ranting on sports radio about how they want to see Denard injured and the topic got locked and I was told to keep "heres my opinion  on this topic posts to a minimum."  How was my post different than anything else?  "My opinion is" that geaux_blue is an a$$hole.

MOD EDIT: FA here, we're locking this thread. This post is stupider than his first. There's nothing positive that will come from the comments here. Negbang and move on.

Step 1 - Find an image on the interwebs that you like and its URL (e.g. http://laughingsquid.com/wp-content/uploads/its-a-trap-20100127-143341.jpg)

Step 2 - in the comment box, there's a button on the far right of the editing panel at the top of the box, that which if you hover over, says image.

Step 3 - click the aforementioned button.

Step 4 - Enter the URL of your image into the field marked URL

Step 5 - make any other changes you see fit

Step 6 - click reply and bask in teh glory

...the mods left it alone to see you get your brains bashed in.  Here's some advice...lay low, post intelligently, try not to be too negative, build up some points, and eventually you won't be seen as just another fly-by douche.

I'm not starting any threads until I get to at least 5,000.  I enjoy the hell out of this board just tagging along.

Self-policing by other members seems like a huge failure.  I know the mods are busy, but if there is a thread they think sucks, it should be up to them take it down and if possible let the offending party know why privately.   Appoint more mods if need be.

The public criticism method creates animosity.  This thread start here is a great example of someone rubbed raw by the perceived lack of tact of another member.

When I have started bad threads, everyone has been cool about telling me the problem. But that is the exception from what I see other members go through.  Go16blue's idea about having an opinion thread for the whole week is a good one too.

Locking threads is pointless. Just more public embarrassment tossed around.  If it is deemed bad enough to be locked, it is bad enough to be eliminated.

This thread sucks and he is getting nailed for it. Why must we treat everyone with kid gloves? Win the crowd you will win your freedom otherwise OMG Shirtless will drop a video or image on you letting you know just how stupid your thread is. If you want to post random thoughts going through your head join Twitter.

you didn't bother to read his other thread... or my comment explaining why it was being closed. the new moderation approach is to close, with explanation, threads which don't "fit." removing them just leads to emails to Brian asking why as people still don't go visit the moderation sticky to see the explanation. he's allowed to have his opinion and he expressed it. it deserved to be a comment in another thread and he was told as much. this thread has been left open to allow the community to decide whether he should have the ability to create threads via voting, as well as to allow him to voice his concern on moderation tactics and... well... me. this is the most democratic, non-authoritarian approach that could be taken.

The problem is that you have to make a spectacle out of it and show that you are an all powerful mod. I guess what I'm saying is that you're a jackass. I say that in the nicest possible way.

if i remove this post and the other post, i'm throwing my blend of authoritarianism around. the fact remains there's been a significant influx of people making posts to share their opinion as a thread. it's bogged down the board and caused reposts and ire in some. Brian has us lock threads - i gave the guy an explanation of why i did it. i also left the "Deep Thoughts, by Profitgoblue - A Thursday Tradition??" thread alone bc it was supposed to prevent posts just like this. i left this post up bc if i didn't i'd be accused of "silencing negative opinions" about me. i didn't dock the guy points or block him - nothing. i did nothing. and apparently doing nothing is "making a spectacle" - someone who is considered to be the most levelheaded person on the board (MGoShoe) even said to keep it open. at worst it's been a chance for people to post "stupid internet stuff" like they haven't been able since the season started

also i've noticed you spend special attention to give me your negative opinion of me each chance you get. if you'd like to discuss why i suck off the board, i'll be happy to email you. it's how similar issues were handled in the past and progress was made (i believe)
