Hayes and Mayfield both out for Indiana?
https://twitter.com/CSayf23/status/1325102812284510210
Michigan is without both of its starting tackles today – Ryan Hayes and Jalen Mayfield – making a win over No. 13 Indiana that much tougher.

Finding further info, evidently neither player traveled with the team due to injury. This is going well.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:50 AM ^
If we can’t beat Indiana without two starting OL then I just give up on JH. If Michigan doesn’t have 2 OL that can fill in and do an adequate job then our recruiting and player development is worse than I thought.
November 7th, 2020 at 12:28 PM ^
By itself, very true, but... those aren't the only team leaders/starters we are missing from what was expected last year.
November 7th, 2020 at 12:53 PM ^
It is surreal to look objectively at this game and say with confidence that Indiana (football...not basketball) has more talent on both sides of the ball.
November 7th, 2020 at 1:06 PM ^
They just pointed out that Indiana is starting juniors almost everywhere. We are starting mostly sophomores & freshmen. Attrition is a bitch - especially when bolting on your team early for NFL or to transfer somewhere else just because you aren't the starter is considered "acceptable".
November 7th, 2020 at 1:12 PM ^
Agreed! I especially don’t understand McCaffrey’s decision. He may have lost the starting job, but it’s not like Milton is lighting the world on fire. Also, the reports that he ran a 4.6 have to be exaggerated. Milton is not a running threat.
November 7th, 2020 at 1:46 PM ^
Right - which is why I find it curious that people are complaining so much about the team's performance. At least for those who know about these personnel issues- what were they expecting, exactly?
November 7th, 2020 at 4:03 PM ^
My children respond the way most of this board has been responding. Then, I explain to them what you two have been discussing, and they understand. And cheer their hearts out for Michigan anyway. Wish that was a majority-response on the board...
November 7th, 2020 at 11:26 AM ^
I guess that cements my plans to not watch and play old-school Zelda instead today. I dont need to be keeping track of two slow-moving heart attacks.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:31 AM ^
Lol of course they are. At least there is some depth along the OL tho.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:43 AM ^
Since this season is a glorified spring practice anyway, it’ll be nice to see what we have as potential replacements for Mayfield and get them some valuable reps.
Obviously not wishing anyone to get hurt or sick, but the more playing time for young guys who will actually be here next season, the better. Seeing flashes from guys like Henning, Corum and Wilson can give a bit of hope in an otherwise dreary and meaningless season.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:54 AM ^
“Meaningless season”.
Excuses are out early this year. Something tells me if Michigan went undefeated and won the National Championship this year or even got off the mat and ran the table you wouldn’t be calling it “meaningless”.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:26 AM ^
Welp..... seeing as how they can't throw the ball more than 10 yards downfield I hope that running back crew is ready to get their heads caved in up the middle
November 7th, 2020 at 11:27 AM ^
Quite frankly, Barnhart got abused in pass pro last week.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:27 AM ^
Watch, whoever steps in will play great
November 7th, 2020 at 11:28 AM ^
Yes, Barnhart Filiaga Vastardis Zintner Stueber......up front.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:29 AM ^
All LB’s are able to play.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:34 AM ^
They're available. Whether they can actually play with any sort of proficiency remains to be seen. If last week was any indication, I'm going to say no.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:37 AM ^
Agreed.
Bob Shoop won’t be be back next year.
Should see a switch at Punter.
November 7th, 2020 at 12:04 PM ^
Please tell me that Shoop isn't getting paid for "working" from home.
November 7th, 2020 at 12:05 PM ^
Would love to know more about the Shoop situation though I doubt he makes the needle move much. Would love to see Harbaugh go after Larry Foote (LB coach for Tampa Bay). Former All American at Michigan. Native Detroiter. And the edge we are always complaining we lack.
November 7th, 2020 at 1:49 PM ^
Seriously Jim should not be making another decision for this program.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:28 AM ^
I'll be out hiking with the family. Might take a nap later. I urge you all to find something else to do during the game. It's not worth the headache.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:30 AM ^
Z Zinter freshman to start
November 7th, 2020 at 11:32 AM ^
Mayfield only had to block smaller LB's and safeties and corners in the MN game. He was beaten badly in the MSU game. He hasn't looked good at all this season. I was a big fan of him but this season I just don't see the aggressiveness that he had before. He should have just sat out because he probably just dropped to the 4th round with how he has played this season.
Go Blue!!
November 7th, 2020 at 11:33 AM ^
Will Habaugh call plays to help his back ups out? I wanna see screen passes, quick passes out wide to the wrs. But sadly We will probably see runs up the middle into 9+ in the box.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:36 AM ^
Stupid play calls that nobody can figure out how to run is what they're going to do.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:44 AM ^
Harbaugh doesn't call plays.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:36 AM ^
You've got the right idea and so does my brother. UM '79 has an 11:30 tee time with his son UI '18 with great weather. Me, UM '71 will gird my loins and watch game so I can scream at the TV along with my daughter, UM '09.
Go Blue!
November 7th, 2020 at 11:39 AM ^
The weather is stunning out but I'm still camped out in front of the TV. I know I should just turn off the TV and head outside for the day, but I just can't. I'm looking for the team to rally together and impress today.
My prediction....I'm going to be pretty drunk by 4:30.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:41 AM ^
WTKA was breaking down the matchups a few minutes ago, and they said the strength of IU's defense is its secondary.
With the caveat that they've only played two games, they're second in the conf in INTs, have allowed the third fewest passing yards per game, and are basically tied for fourth in pass defense efficiency, which is three spots better than Michigan.
They're not nearly so good at defending the run, so I bet they're going to stack the LOS the way MSU did and dare Milton to throw the ball. Which means a lot of Michigan running into a brick wall again.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:51 AM ^
Well this’ll be fun. But something something 2020* doesn’t count something.
*neither does 2017, 2019
November 7th, 2020 at 11:46 AM ^
I can’t drink until after the game. I had to buy a new tv after a coors light missile went through the screen, about midway through the 4th last week. In defense of my drunken anger, I was going to buy a new one anyways. Either way i can’t destroy a new QLED so I’ll get sauced afterwards, and probably outside just in case.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:52 AM ^
Sounds like somebody needs anger management classes. I have been a UM fan for 50 yrs so I can't get that upset. I have had too much disappointment over the years.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:59 AM ^
QLED but Coors Light? You enigma, you
November 7th, 2020 at 11:58 AM ^
So does this officially make us underdogs at least?
November 7th, 2020 at 12:05 PM ^
That was evident on the very first snap. Got beat around the corner to stop a run up the middle
November 7th, 2020 at 12:10 PM ^
It was probably gonna be bad but now it's gonna be worse.
November 7th, 2020 at 12:15 PM ^
I wouldn’t come back if I were Mayfield. He came back for his team and the the program. But it’s not worth losing five or six figures
