Bought a new 2013 Ford Fusion last night after 10 faithful years of a used '99 Grand Prix.
1st brand new car I've ever bought so this is a new feeling and a little scary one at that with the payments/bills starting to add up (bought a house 8 months ago). However, I am looking forward to not having to pay a damn dime if anything breaks in the coming years. #lifewassimpleincollege
probably pretty good time to make big asset purchases. interest rates will be going up soon so you've probably locked in some good rates.
Oh yeah, the house was a steal @ 3.375 for 30/yrs.
We were not really in the market for a car (trying to limp the old one along for another 6ish months as I normally commute on my motorcycle) but we needed to face reality and quit putting money into it. We got a fair deal on everything so it should hopefully be worth it in the end.
Softball tonight, home showings in the Rockford area on Saturday, finally relaxing and having some beers on Sunday, possibly go watch the Tigers at Comerica. Feels tremendous to be back in MI!
A very happy Friday to you all. Celebrating the Summer solstice by making a trip down the California coast to Monterey/Big Sur this weekend. Heading back to Michigan in a couple of weeks. Thanks for holdin' the fort down for me, MGoMichiganders.
Bay area is pretty darn nice. I was in half moon bay a few years back to play some golf and stay a few nights. Amazing place.
Half Moon Bay is super nice. California definitely has some of the nicest golf courses around, but on most days, I would still trade the salt water for some Great Lakes freshwater. (The days I wouldn't trade usually fall between January-February).
I actually lurked on mgoblog for probably 2-3 years before I wanted to comment and signed up for an account. I recently wanted to do an original post and realized that you need 100 points in order to do an original post or posbang/upvote. Otherwise just accept my positive vibrations and sincere appreciation for like-minded Michigan fans. (Yes I am sucking up so I can get to 100 points and give you all "posbangs.")
just reply to a lot of posts and you'll be up to 100 in no time.
200 points to you. You may join the posbang at your leisure.
He should start small, like a pos-bang training bra.
wow, and he's not even vincent smith! can i get some point inflation too? haha.
here's 1,000 for a day. Don't spend it all in one place.
Awesome!! MGoCrazy!!!
we'll start to roll back the influx of points into the system and allow it to stabalize.
Taper?!?!
By which I mean it will just fall off a cliff right after I crack open a beer at around 8:00 tonight, unless LSA has a desire to hand out points on MGoBlog this weekend.
NO POLITICZ?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!ANARCHY BAN THE MODS!?!?!?!?
obvious /s is obvious
for the obviously inappropriate post (since it talks about points), but I'm afraid of breaking something, and explaining that I messed something up trying to Bolivia myself doesn't sound like an appealing email exchange with Brian. Hopefully 10552 of my points can make up for the flamebaiting and related troubles.
I'd like some please!
As I love the avatar and many childhood memories for me somehow start with the late Johnny Olson (later Rod Roddy) saying, "Here it comes....television's most exciting hour of fantastic prizes!", 200 points and welcome to to the posbang.
WooHoo!!!!
A trip to the movies to see World War Z. Besides that it's gonna be a looong weekend full of work.
I've been waiting for this all year. There's a lil old lady that makes me 2 rum cakes every year and they are MGoIncredible. Happy Friday!
Saturday as it is supposed to be nice weather and they have a pool - yes I am using them.....but only if they have good beer. I am a teacher so I have nothing else to do until August - LIFE IS GOOD
man teachers have it so nice. surrounded by little angels for 9 months out of the year and on vacation for the other 3 months...
Haha they might not always be little angels. I have a buddy doing Teach for America... in Southside Chicago. He's got some stories.
Golf course on Saturday.
The joys of the finance world.
Any chance that these weekly threads could have an audio clip added so that when a post is upvoted, we would hear Mike Breen celebrating a made three-pointer?
Been another long week and I cannot wait to get home in five hours. I have a fridge full of leftover beer from our cookout last weekend and I am excited to indulge. Then I have my dad's retirement party around 6:30. He has been a police officer for about twenty-five years and finally gets to retire at age fifty-seven.
Ducking out of work at 4 for a round of golf with my other Michigan alum buddy at UF. Probably gonna grab some beers and maybe play Settlers of Catan with friends later. Renting a boat on the Gulf of Mexico tomorrow. Working on my second publication by the pool on Sunday. Yeah, its gonna be a great weekend.
Testing for the fire department Saturday morning.
Weekend should consist of me taking my two year old daughter to her first soccer practice, embarking on a long journey which I'm confident will result in a full-ride scholarship to Michigan in about 16 years (crosses fingers).
This will be followed up by infield box seats for Tigers / Red Sox Saturday should the rain hold off (crosses fingers).
Gotta get her into basketball, tennis, gymnastics or volleyball to make sure the AD is signing all of those checks, although maybe in sixteen years Michigan will be in a division where they can give everyone full rides, so who knows.
Wow, so Michigan doesn't have scholarship endowments for all it's varsity sports? Mind blown.
Title IX doesn't stipulate equal financial support as well as opportunity between men and women's sports?
Regardless, if she winds up playing soccer at Michigan and I have to foot the bill, I'm still going to be pretty happy.
Womens soccer gets 14 scholarships (which are divisible) and it looks like M has about thirty girls on roster. 3-4 are probably walkons, but there are probably a few getting full rides as well.

Parents arriving at dinnertime from Michigan. Will be sampling the softshell crabs this season, and then tomorrow morning will be heading down to the Outer Banks for a week.
Have a case of Oberon in the basement, 2/3rds of a case of 90 Minute IPA, and Tequilla/Orange Liquour for the margaritas we will be drinking.
Already in the "screw work, I don't care mode"...kind of bad in a service industry.
My weekend consists of me taking my long time girlfriend and current Michigan Medical student to Mackinaw to propose! Wish me luck and help me pray for good weather.
Take some points as a premature congratulations present from MGoBlog.
Congratulations. The good news for you is that the lilacs should be in full bloom up there by now, which if isn't raining makes for some very pleasant walks through town. Your girlfriend / future fiance will love it.
Congrats, its the most nerve racking thing ever (or at least it was for me).
Thanks guys, the weather is looking decent tomorrow morning/afternoon so I should be alright. Thanks for the additional points! I promise not to let them go to waste.
