Submitted by Qmatic on

Devin Gardner won the 2014 'Herbie Award' for moment of the year for comforting JT Barrett.

It will for sure be a lasting image of Devin's career at U-M.

Why is it called the Herbie award? It is national or just for B1G team players? Does it include other sports?  Too lazy too google it I guess....

Devin Gardner knew what he was doing in this situation. He knew the cameras were on, so he went out on the field and made the moment about him. He took attention away from THE TEAM and we lost the game. That's the type of person he is and that's why he lost so many games at Michigan. A real competitor and sportsman doesn't do this. They seek the injured player out after the game and send their condolences in a private manner. It's the same idea for Gardner posting thousands of pictures at the hospital. That's great, he should visit the hospital. You know what? Hundreds of other Michigan athletes do the same and don't post hundreds of pictures, because they understand why they are at the hospital: not for promoting themselves but helping the kids. Stop glorifying Devin Gardner

I don't know if you can comprehend this, but the starting quarterback at the University of Michigan posting pictures at the hospital probably does a lot of good in of itself to raise awareness for the hospital and the sick patients.  In fact, there's a valid argument to be made that all the other athletes should post pictures too as it will raise even more awareness.

Go ahead, think about it.  I'll wait.
