Fun fact: Jake "Body by Jake" Steinfeld has a son at Michigan

I subscribe to a podcast called "American Glutton" that's hosted by Ethan Suplee. If you don't recognize the name, he was the big fat guy from "Remember the Titans." And "Boy Meets World." And one of my favorite shows, "My Name is Earl."

Anyway, he got into fitness/nutrition and made a pretty remarkable turnaround; he says he was at 530+ pounds at one point, and now he's around 260. (I listen to several fitness/nutrition podcasts if you're interested during these boring times, such as the Dr. Gundry Podcast, The Genius Life with Max Lugavere, the Ben Greenfield Fitness Podcast, Bulletproof Radio, etc.)

I was listening to Episode 15 of "American Glutton" (LINK) where he interviewed Jake Steinfeld from "Body by Jake" fame, and in the middle of the discussion, Jake mentioned that his son is a sophomore on the rowing team at Michigan. I looked him up, and his name is Zach Steinfeld (LINK).

Anyway, if anyone has any good fitness/nutrition tips, workouts, etc. they're using during quarantine, this might be a good place to drop them.

Yup... read his story!

Just note that this isn't just training, this also weighs heavily on diet... and I'm sure there's a lil somethin' somethin' in there too.

I believe I saw that he was doing what I'm currently trying / CRSPR Cas-9 and Myostatinknockout.

Mmmmm. A kid from LA gets into a top school by being on the rowing team?  Haven't we seen this picture before?

You do realize men’s rowing is a club sport ...no scholarships, no preferred admissions, basically pay to play at the college level. Therefore no WD update on their home regattas (I don’t think they have any since they train on Argo pond).

I know the post was dripping with sarcasm but still kinda irrelevant sarcasm.

I almost ran over the guy in the espn zone in Baltimore several years ago. The guy is not very big. Came around a corner and he was heading the other direction we both pulled up just short or colliding  I then walked past him and thought that guy looks familiar and then I realized who it was. The guy was maybe 5’7” and like 160lbs. I guess they can make you look big on tv because I was blown away at how small he was

FYI... I heard Jake also came out of semi-retirement and has been posting exercise classes online!

GOOD ON HIM FOR GETTING PEOPLE MOVING!

I use Nike running club for my running schedule and Nike Training Club for some resistance training and yoga stuff. As of a week or two ago, they have made the premium versions free to Nike Club members, which I believe just involves signing up with an email and some basic info. I’ve been using the NRC for a while, so I’m not 100% sure, but I’ve never given my credit card info or anything. And yesterday I did one of the premium workouts with some small dumbbells. 26 minute workout and it hurt to get out of bed this morning!!

Should maybe note that I am not currently in great shape, so maybe it’s effective for me where it might not be for others!

Brentwood?  Interesting juxtaposition to the “my daughter just got into Michigan, but we can’t afford it because we live in California” post that’s adjacent to this one.

Sometimes irony is so ironic.
