Former UM staff member at MissSt. part of allegations notice?

Submitted by Jkidd49 on January 6th, 2023 at 4:49 PM

Was just listening to the emergency fullcast pod about the JH allegations with the NCAA and Holly I believe said a former UM staff member who is now at MissSt. was involved in reporting the allegations to the NCAA as some kind of retribution?  Was this known, did I miss this information?

The most interesting thing about that podcast is:

  1. Harbaugh met them for breakfast at the Brown Jug
  2. Harbaugh ordered two, 1/2 lb hamburgers, at 8:30 am
  3. The meals were comped as the Jug is owned by a fan/booster
  4. He put the tip on the university credit card

I wanted to see the scene of the "crime." Googled The Brown Jug. Read the reviews just because. Weird. It's either a fantastic place or it sucks and the staff hates black people. Wow! I never pick a place to go based on reviews. I assume they're unreliable. Is it common for reviews to be so wildly different?

Still remember back in the mid 80s going to the law quad to study P Chem on a frickin freezin Friday night with a few friends and the ending up the LBJ. Afterwards pizza and beer numbed our senses both of P Chem and our frozen walk back to our apartments. I remember going there but don't remember (maybe vaguely) the walk back to my apartment :>)

Pardon me as I take you back even further. When I was at UM from 1968-1972, the Little Brown Jug did not serve alcohol. Mainly had an occasional weekend breakfast and a rare burger and fries after leaving the library.

Only alcohol during those days on South University was at the long gone Village Bell.

There is always SOMEONE who has some inside knowledge of something either: (1) crooked, (2) embarrassing, or (3) legal but unethical.

I've seen this in the corporate world too. Just about every situation, someone is willing to rat to authorities if they feel they've been wronged, want to get back at someone for a perceived slight, or just want to help their own cause while hurting the competition.

At this point in time, UM hasn't had a chance to defend themselves to challenge allegations or clarify the details.

"Not being cooperative" vs "providing misleading info" - what is it in this case? both? neither? - there is a thing in the legal world called the PERJURY TRAP. It's where you are questioned earlier on about a case or situation about what you remember of an event. Then, later on, you may have a different recollection of the events or had new info come to light ad give a different answer that contradicts your earlier testimony.

My guess is JH was not happy to have some gumshoe detectives hanging around and suspected it was Dudek who ratted on him after getting canned after the covid disaster year. He was likely uncooperative, which only makes the gumshoes that much more determined to find something, even piddly, just to show they are the boss. JH may have told them one thing about either the covid texts/contact and/or practices when first approached and then may have given a different answer when it came to light.

Something as simple as this: did Matt Dudek text recruits during covid period?

JH: no, not at all, he knows that's not allowed

then they produce the evidence - voila! JH gave misleading answers.

It will be interesting to see how Warde manages this - I think he knows that NCAA will not accept "no punishment" for JH and a game or two suspension may be called for. The worst part is that if Dudek was part of the guilty party sending texts/contacts, it's pretty cheesy he is able to rat on JH.

Few things in this world are hated more than a fucking rat.

I don’t know if it’s true, and if it was I don’t know if it was Dudek. But if it was, good luck getting a job anywhere of note, pal.

Sam said on the radio this morning that he has know about the NCAA looking into the allegations about Oz coaching since 2021, so it wouldn't surprise me if Dudek called the NCAA right after he was shown the door at U of M...

Sam also said that he had never heard about contact during the dead period in 2020 until yesterday...

The Osborn thing hasn't been a secret. That was public when it happened.

The contact during the dead period, meh.

I know for a FACT that Scott Frost was holding full on real practices and Iowa and OSU were holding team activities during that COVID period when everyone was supposed to be remote.

No idea...probably for being a snake.

Edit: well, obviously Leach passed, and then the new HC fired him less than a week ago.

I wouldn't think anything of it, except the new HC was on the staff. So they've worked with each other for a year and less than a month into his new job as HC...he fires Dudek.

I would agree except a recruiting coordinator is more likely to be fired after the recruiting cycle ends in spring, upon a look back and performance review. There is also not enough time to replace him during the cycle. His presence was deemed to be more detrimental to the process than the loss of his experience and need for continuity during a critical period. This suggests a strong dislike of him or his performance.

Dudek was part of the post 2020 purge. He was replaced by Courney Morgan I'd say that was a bit of an upgrade there.

Then the guy has sour grapes?

So new coach Zach Arnett released Dudek within a month of taking the gig.

Being incompetent and a rat isn't the best formula for job security.
