Former Michigan WR Tarik Black Signs with Baltimore Ravens

He started out so promising and then went down with that foot injury before ultimately transferring. Glad to see he'll be playing for a Harbaugh.
Wishing him the best in Baltimore…
He’s already our second best receiver. This should be enough to get Lamar to sign
The Ravens have never had a pro bowl receiver. Let that sink in. Almost 30 years without putting a single receiver in the league. This is a franchise with two super bowls during that time, an mvp, dpoy. The first two picks in franchise history were hall of famers. Not a single pro bowl wr
I'm pulling for him, but he's only had 1 NFL reception for 10 yards.
This is why I'm bullish on Lamar if I'm another NFL franchise. I think the talent he was surrounded with the last few years in Baltimore (outside of TE/Mark Andrews) was subpar and in the bottom 5 of the league.
I also believe that he's outgrown the Greg Roman offense as a passer, and seeing him operate an offense that's less power-run oriented and with more spread concepts will only play into his strengths and keep him healthier.
Steve Smith, Derrick Mason, Anquon Boldin never made it to the pro bowl with them? Shannon Sharpe?
Shannon Sharpe made a pro-bowl with them in 2001, but he's a TE.
Well, the Lions have had Calvin Johnson, Herman Moore, Roy Williams, Golden Tate, Aman-Ra St Brown, and Kenny Goladay as Pro Bowl receivers plus Mel Gray, Desmond Howard, Eddie Drummond, and Jamal Agnew as receivers who were primarily returners during that time… I guess that tells you everything you need to know about the relative value of receivers compared to elite defensive players. No one is trading Baltimore’s last 30 years for Detroit’s.
He's not their 2nd best WR on the roster. He's basically a camp body or at the very least the back end of the WR rotation.

I know. It’s a joke about the quality of the Ravens receivers at the end of the season.
Demarcus Robinson, Josh Oliver, Desean Jackson and Sammy Watkins were the only wrs to register a reception in their final four games
The Ravens have had a few guys that could catch the ball:
Derrick Mason (2x Pro Bowl with Tennessee - some solid seasons with Baltimore)
Qadry Ismail
Torrey Smith
Derrick Alexander
Steve Smith (5x Pro Bowl with Carolina)
Todd Heap (2x Pro Bowl with Baltimore)
Shannon Sharpe (1x Pro Bowl with Baltimore, HOF)
Mark Andrews 1,300 yds, 9 TDs in 2021
I think all those receivers had 1000 yard seasons in Baltimore.
And a quite a few RBs that ate up some receiving yards.

I’m talking about actual wide receivers. Ozzie Newsome was a draft wizard when it came to every position except for receivers. The guys you mentioned were solid, but the best ones that you mentioned were on the back end of their careers.
The first round picks off the top of my head we’re Breshard Perriman, Travis Taylor, Hollywood, and Bateman. Not a great track record. Hopefully Bateman pans out, but he’s played as many games as Zion Williamson ( I’m halfway kidding).
The Ravens passing offense was a mess last year though. Part of that was Greg Roman another part was the receiving corps
The comment sank in and what came back up was that Anquan Boldin was a 3-time pro bowler, though none with the Ravens, his last Pro Bowl being 2009 with the Cardinals the year before he joined the Ravens. Boldin was still stud at receiver with Ravens and helped them win Super Bowl XLVII.

The pro bowl is a bad data point. Mac Jones was in the pro bowl last year.

So was Tyler Huntley. I think that makes it even more wild that the Ravens haven’t put a single receiver in the pro bowl.
Not sure if Tarik will make it off the practice squad where he was last season, but he has his chance to compete. Hope he can put it all together and make a go of it.
Tarik had incredible potential, it was tough seeing him suffer multiple severe foot injuries while at Michigan.
Pulling for him. Michigan grad and a frequent sideline visitor for games nowadays.
I did not realize that. Nice to see that although he transferred, he still aligns himself with Michigan.
Really.... I remember him being disgruntled as a player in and on the way out, unless I'm confusing him with another, and I don't think so. Why did he transfer?
He got passed on the depth chart.
He played in 2019 and had 25 catches for 323 yards, but shared targets with Ronnie Bell, Nico Collins and DPJ. He got his degree and grad transferred.
I’m happy for Tarik to get another crack at the big show. He never got to showcase his “Smooth as a Carlos Santana solo” chops with the injuries he sustained here. Love me some “Black Magic Woman”.
Random Things I Will Never Not Remember And Laugh Aloud About MGoBlog Vol. XLV: that part in his 201x Recruiting Post where Brian wrote "second, completely unnecessary guitar solo"
Great news! But please don’t remind me of the season he sat out….
We had arguably the best receiver room in the country with him and DPJ out there. Unfortunately Shae just wasn't the guy who could get it to them.
We desperately need to recruit great receivers again.
Nico, DPJ and Black seemed like it would be an unstoppable offense. Always felt like the offense should have been much better than it was with those 3 on the roster.
