Favorite Michigan-OSU Basketball Moments

Submitted by Maizerage11 on

In preperation of the Michigan  -  OSU game let us reminisce about our favorite moments in this rivalry on the hardwood.  I am not going to go back very far in time... for me it was last years game.  Any game that features OSU losing, and Spike out playing a lottery pick is good enough for me.  Also enjoyed when in the second half  OSU couldn't stop spike so they tried to deny him the ball.  Great moment

This was the day after the Duke/UK game and I think the rest of Lexington was still in shock.  CBS couldn't ask for a better encore to that classic.

No one gave us a chance and the arena was at least 75%/25% OSU.  They were the #1 seed in the Southeast Regional and blew us out twice that season.  That was such a satisfying win, like beating Illinois in the Final Four in 1989.

I was at that game too. The best part wasn't Webber's dunk or Jent's miss, it was the Ohio State fans booing the Victors all afternoon, until the last TO. For that final rendition, they didn't bother, because it was clear they were going to lose. There was a Cartman-esque let-me-taste-your-tears moment.

Most favorite moment: Craft airball and watching the mass exodus of OSU fans with several minutes left in the game, when they knew their team was schooled big time.

Least favorite : 2013 OSU game in Columbus. My buddy and I got tickets in the student section and obviously decided to deck ourselves out in UM gear. Didn't get a whole ton of crap surprisingly, but I remember UM went into that game undefeated up to that point, #2 in America. Duke or Louisville, can't remember who, had just lost the day before and they were #1. A win at OSU would've put Michigan firmly entrenched at #1. OSU lost a pretty ugly game a few days prior and seemed like UM should've gone in and got the win.

OSU goes on some insane offensive run in the first half and goes up by maybe 20 or so. Anything they shot seemingly just didn't miss. That place was loud, and wow I never felt more uncomfortable at a sporting event than I did at that game.

Burke and Co. fight all the way back in the second half but still come up short. Had some pretty gracious OSU fans come up to me after the game and say that Michigan had one hell of a team and, had OSU blown that game, there would've been some serious heat on Matta.

Not that it helped much. We still lost, and with it, a shot to be the #1 team in America.

My favorite is Zak Novak elbowing P.J. Hill right in the mouth on a free throw box out. He left him in a pile of blood and tears. We need some Novak toughness again!
