Ex Gov Engler named interim MSU president

Hope he has a mandate to clean out the rot, starting with Dantonio and Izzo

How the hell can you hire an alum and expect to maintain the appearance of any credibility at all? This hire is clearly strategic and atrocious. Un-freaking-real. They just have no sense at all.

Got them in this spot. Ultimately I think the Federal govt and NCAA dry up their resources for at least 5 years. We shall see. There is a world public now that wants severe penalties imposed for their culture of silence.

Engler is, I hope,  a placeholder meant to give some sense stability and to navigate the political storm that is largely out of the school's control at this point.  The permanent appointment is what will show whether Sparty "gets it" or not.  Absolutely cannot give the post to a alum or to an in-state political hack.  Must have someone from outside the state with no prior connections to the school.  As to Mork and Iz, I'd guess the thinking is that they will stay unless the pressure becomes overwhelming, and Engler is there to help decide what is overwhelming.   Also, likely will appoint an interim AD who will depart when a new President is named.  Can't see a scenario that Mork and Iz would survive past the new AD.

to continue sweeping, or move rug and whats underneath it into a locked closet.

Bad move imo.  And fyi, Engler is not going to be the guy to ask Dantonio and/or Izzo to step aside.

I don't think it matters.  if I have learned anything from this it is that I don't think schools will do anything but protect themsleves until there has been an example made of one of them.  I am not even talking criminal, bc the people left who don't get charged will continue protecting the school.  You have to make it clear that protecting the school = protecting victims. Then maybe admins will wake up.

Suspend them from Football and Basketball for five years.   Nuk 'em.  Then schools will say "we can't protect higher ups at the expense of the school"

The BoT is a clownshow. This is political cover and someone who can get the Dept of Ed to go easy on MSU because they should hammer them on Title IX and other issues. Worst part - the cancer in EL will fester and reappear more virulent because they lack any leadership. It would be funny if the situation were not so serious.
