Demar Dorsey will play @ Grand Rapids CC
It's apparently official Demar Dorsey will play for GRCC. Glad he seems to be hanging in there.

I know, I know, I couldn't help myself...just had to click when I saw the headline.

I still can't help but feel sorry for the kid. I hope he has great success at GRCC and his story has a happy ending. Good luck Demar.
February 12th, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
Did you guys really want this guy at Michigan? The fact that RR went after this kid (knowing all the trouble he was in) should tell you something about the guy. Google "Demar Dorsey zombie crew" and tell me why in the world did we ever risk recruiting someone like this...
February 12th, 2011 at 11:02 PM ^
I am guessing and hoping that he moved to Michigan to get away from this crew. Had he stayed he no doubt would have been doomed to follow this path. He is not a thug, just a kid.
February 12th, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^
No doubt that he left Florida to get into a better situation than what he was involved with. You have to give him credit, he is trying to turn his life around.
February 13th, 2011 at 9:26 AM ^
The mere fact that the kid opted to move to Michigan to play football, not at U of M after-all, but at GRCC, should prove that this kid deserves the benefit of the doubt. He surely had similar options to stay in Florida and play at that level, but he chose to get away from that environment. Good luck to you, Demar!
February 13th, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
Agreed. I am suprised he came all the way to Michigan though. You would think he had similar offers to CC in states that are not north of the entire country.
February 14th, 2011 at 10:19 AM ^
Tony Annese is a great coach and that is what probably sold it for Demar. Wherever Tony goes, his team wins. I expect him to reach a lot higher coaching ranks in the future.

Condeming an 18-year-old kid for life because of bad decisions in the past goes against everything Michigan stands for as an institution. If you do not believe that through hard work, dedication, clean living, and staying out of trouble, a troubled young man can make something of himself and get a degree from the best school in the Big Ten, then you sir have a very limited and very selective view of what university (and community college) education can do for a person.
Also, I see you joined just today to post that. Good luck in the jungle.
February 12th, 2011 at 11:07 PM ^
Thank you for joining today for the purposes of publicly humiliating an 18-year old whom you don't know. Your MGoBlog services are now no longer required, so please go catch Ebola and leave us and Demar Dorsey's family alone.

Guarantee it's a regular poster who doesn't want his/her screen name to take a South American vacation.
February 12th, 2011 at 11:19 PM ^
Either way, they're a wuss.
February 12th, 2011 at 11:51 PM ^
Mostly because they never beat USC.
February 13th, 2011 at 4:29 AM ^
UCLA beat them from 91 to 98. I moved to California around 91 and all my friends in elementary school were either UCLA or USC fans. I remember UCLA watching Abdul-Jabar, JJ Stokes andMcNow
February 13th, 2011 at 11:09 AM ^
That was McThen.
What have they done for us McLately?
February 13th, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
It has just increased the amount of bandwagon USC fans. Living in Hermosa you must be pretty familiar with that situation.
February 14th, 2011 at 3:02 PM ^
Surrounded by Trojans in the South Bay, with a smattering of Bruins.
I really loathe USC.
February 13th, 2011 at 6:23 AM ^
This photo would give you the impression that the "thug life" is not entirely without advantages......interesting....
February 13th, 2011 at 6:25 AM ^
This guy is definitely living it.....
February 13th, 2011 at 9:29 AM ^
Please take note of the horseshoe shaped stadium in the picture to his right. I didn't not any sarcasm in your post (no neg bang FWIW), but in case you didn't notice, this appears to be an osu fan mocking our former coach.
February 13th, 2011 at 11:10 AM ^
Dude, that's Mr. Plow himself, Benedict Boren.
February 13th, 2011 at 11:11 AM ^
Yeah.... that's Justin Boren.
February 13th, 2011 at 11:15 AM ^
I'm Earth, have we met?
February 13th, 2011 at 11:18 AM ^
Need I say more?
February 13th, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
No, you don't need to say anymore. I think it was covered. Apparently, I'm not able to spot traiterous scum. /s
That's sarcasm, people. I hope I have my sarcasm designator right.
February 12th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
Wow, someone flicked off the camera? Oh no. We shouldn't let anyone in to Michigan who does that...
And the second picture isn't even him, why even post it?
I don't get the big deal about the 4th picture either. So he's biting cash.... uhhh ok?
The worst thing I see going on is underage drinking. Not to belittle that, but.... it's not just potential football players who do this at UM or other schools. I'm sure YOU neeeeeever did that either.
February 12th, 2011 at 11:40 PM ^
The only picture that I would have an issue with is the second one, and I'm not even positive that's Demar.
Either way, go fuck yourself.
February 13th, 2011 at 12:12 AM ^
It isn't him.
February 12th, 2011 at 11:48 PM ^
Dude - seriously tell me that you didn't do stupid stuff in high school. My friends and I used to wear pendants that said "69" on them. Let's face it, people do stupid stuff at that age. Do you know the human brain isn't fully developed until age 25? Why shouldn't he have the chance in AA in a better environment? Regardless of where he ends up give it a rest.
February 13th, 2011 at 8:47 AM ^
Actually, they are saying it's closer to 30 now, but that makes your point even more valid.
February 13th, 2011 at 12:24 AM ^
February 13th, 2011 at 12:36 AM ^
You are the worst! I did some pretty horrible shit throughout my highschool days and I was able to mature and realize how stupid some of the shit I did was. I'd like to think I turned out more than okay. I believe Demar is very capable of doing the same, i'm glad he's getting out of Florida, hopefully this gets him on the right path. I'm have faith in you Demar and i'm rooting for you!
So loyalm, kindly eat a bag of dicks!
February 13th, 2011 at 4:34 AM ^
Me and my friends took pictures almost exactly like those (and did the things they are insinuating they do) when we were in HS and I'm a about to graduate from the university of Tampa with a 3.5 GPA. Not saying I'm a genius nor an athlete the caliber of DD, but kids act stupid in HS and everyone deserves a second chance. To judge a kids potential based solely on some pictures and a few juvenile mistakes isn't really fair IMO, but that's just me. To each his own I guess.

I would have loved to see UM at least give him a chance.
February 13th, 2011 at 6:27 AM ^
Hopefully, GRCC is the first step in turning it around for Dorsey. It shows character to have the awareness to willingly extract yourself from a bad situation, which is what he has apparently done. I wish him luck.
February 13th, 2011 at 6:50 AM ^
tl;dr: douche.
February 13th, 2011 at 9:25 AM ^
Vance Bedford vouched for the kid for one thing. Do you honestly believe that Michigan never recruited kids like this before RR? Just that with today's media and available technology everything is recorded instantly. Remember a kid named Kelly Baraka? Maybe you remember a player stalking girls and exposing himself on front porches or a player shooting his gun in the air on campus because he thought his vehicle was being broken into? I know RR wasn't one of us, but neither were the two greatest coaches to ever coach Michigan football, Bo and Fielding.

February 12th, 2011 at 10:20 PM ^
Is GRCC one of the farm community colleges for Michigan? I recall RR spent time recruiting there, or something like that.
February 12th, 2011 at 10:25 PM ^
I think so, Shawn Conway enrolled there with hopes of transferring to UM. The Return of the No Fly Zone would be SICK!!!
February 12th, 2011 at 10:37 PM ^
Shawn Conway ended up going to Arizona Western, but GRCC credits do transfer to UM.
