And yet, this team has 0 NCAA tourney wins since 2011. I appreciate all Red has done for Michigan hockey, but it really seems he is becoming a hinderance

Apart from the massive case of amnesia (I understand, the NCAA tournament format makes it difficult to enjoy a good first-round win if you lose the next day, but it DID happen), the snark toward Red is harsh. Now, it is possible that he has lost his fastball.

But the whole reason most of us even care about Michigan Hockey is Red Berenson. He was Harbaugh before Harbaugh--Michigan man, pro player, successful pro coach, came home to coach his old program when it was suffering through its darkest moments.

He built the team into such a perennial contender that it far-and-away set the record for consecutive tournament appearances. He won two national titles. He made numerous other Frozen Fours. On his watch Yost went from a lifeless barn to one of the great home advantages in sports (now Yost has lost a bit, too, but it's still a great place).

I don't get hooked on Michigan Hockey without Red.

So, as a fan of Michigan Hockey, whether he is handling it in the best way or not, he has earned the right to call his shot.
