I know I'm reading this blog way too much because I immediately know what you're referencing.

I know what he is referring to also, but I don't know who this Carl Grapevine guy is.

"Band, take the field"
Did you ever attend a Michigan football game?

You missed the joke. You had to be part of some of the threads Sun morning to know what I was talking about.

Good to know.
I heard people approached him at lunch in an area restaurant before the game based on just the sound of his voice.

If he's not the voice of God he's at least the guy who introduces God.

Going to be so weird when he retires

I wish I could like this a half-a-dozen times.

Thank you much as I truly enjoyed him in Detroit 30 years ago prior to his move to Chicago. Hope he stays forever introducing the UM Band.

His only guest today was Ludwig Beethoven.

Big fan of Dr. Dave, but you're the best fill-in for sure.

True story, I was working as a cashier in a long defunct Ann Arbor bakery in the early 1980s. Wearing my Michigan fan hat to work one day, who should appear at my register, Carl Grapentine. we chatted briefly and I asked for an autograph, which he supplied on a bakery bag. He was so kind and gentlemanly.
Probably still have it somewhere, have to look, it would be with the signed response letter received to the letter I wrote to Don Canham in the 70s asking about why Girl Scouts could no longer usher at games.
