Can we finally talk College Football Futures?

Slow Friday in the office and I have a few hours still to procrastinate.  What better way to do that then looking at College Football futures.  After all, it may be a relatively turbulent summer for college football fans – that doesn’t mean we can’t collectively make money.  So, what’s on your radar?

  • Northwestern – 4
  • Illinois – 4.5
  • FSU – 6.5

It's an even year; take the over on Northwestern.

Indiana @ 4 ?!? Not questioning it, but *my* how they peaked and crashed so quickly. Are we ever going to remember that they were actually a strong division contender for a year? "Hey guys, remember 2020, how crazy that year was?" "Yea, Indiana almost won the division."

I hate Nebraska, but I think they will win 9 this year. The key for that will be if they can beat Northwestern at Northwestern, which I think yes this year and if they can win one of the final gauntlet of @ Michigan, vs Wisconsin, @ Iowa and I think vs Wisconsin is where it will happen.

Slightly off topic but I got NW at +13 versus Nebraska in Ireland to open the season.

If there is a game that screams 19-17 Northwestern on a last second field goal more than this, I'm not sure what it is.

WI, MSU and PSU could be over.  UM 9.5 10-2 looks reasonable. It would not surprise me if Michigan and OSU enter the GAME each with only 1 loss or OSU undefeated?.

ND - I’d take the over on them. Freeman is a first year coach and will probably lose a game he shouldn’t, but the only game on their schedule I look at right now and say “they’re not winning the game” is OSU. Otherwise, Clemson is potentially down and has to come to South Bend, USC has Riley but it’s only his first season as well, and the rest are all extremely winnable. I don’t think they are a playoff team this season but I’d take the over.

Northwestern - take the over. Fitzgerald is a really good coach and usually finds ways to rebound and find 8-10 win seasons after a stinker of a year. Depends on how many good upperclassmen he has on the roster as well, I suppose.

Georgia - take the over. They probably lose a game somewhere, maybe to South Carolina, who always seems to play Georgia extremely well, especially at home.

Nebraska - taking the under until they prove me otherwise. They have the talent to get the over and play in an extremely weak division, but they are so disorganized and discombobulated and just don’t seem to know how to win games. They know how to compete, but mentally they just can’t seem to close the deal. Maybe this is finally the year, but I bet against it until Frost proves otherwise.

MSU - Ughh I’m taking the over. Tucker’s ability to continue use raiding the portal as a long term solution remains to be seen, and they’re not fully fixing that absolute disaster of a secondary in one season, and losing Kenneth Walker is going to hurt, but I learned a long time ago that when I underestimate MSU I pay the price for it. They’re not making the playoff but they’re going to contend to win ten games and go to another NY6 game.

OSU - they’re a lock to win at least 11 regular season games just about any year. With that offense and now a DC who knows what he’s doing…..oh boy.
