Lions sign ex-Michigan tight end Casey Butler, cut kicker Swayze Waters by Tom Kowalski Thursday August 06, 2009, 9:06 AM The Detroit Lions have signed former University of Michigan tight end Carson Butler. Wow... "Casey" must be Carson's alter-ego that doesn't punch people and act like an a*s...

good deal for butler. also, it's a good thing his name isn't really "casey", because i think there is an nfl rule on the number of "caseys" a team may have.

I graduated from UM in 1997 1993: 8-4 1994: 8-4 1995 9-4 1996 8-4 "M for Mediocre" was the phrase the media (and our rivals used) prior to the 1997 season because of the 4-4-loss seasons 1997 was the first graduating class since the early 70's not to have a Rose Bowl. And, 1992 they were 9-0-3 with a Rose bowl victory over Washington. And, 1997, Nat. Champs and Rose Bowl victory. Of course, I'd take that over experiencing last year's season from the student section. Puts our "horrible" four years from 93-96 in perspective.

The Lions had a player with a kick-ass name like Swayze Waters? Couldn't Schwartz have found some other player with a less cool name to cut?
