BYU OL Ului Lapuaho not suspended. What a punch in the balls.

Submitted by BlueCube on

I tried to come up with so many witty things to say here but lost focus and cringed with each repetition of the punch. Apparently he was likely aware but not fully aware he may be punching the opposing players junk.

BYU announced he has been disciplined internally. No word on if the Boise State player was subsequently suspended for playing with deflated balls.

As posted above, BYU belongs to an association of officials (same as big 12) to determine suspensions in cases like this. Of course BYU can go above and beyond. But independence isn't a factor here.

Yes, it's a dirty play. Not to excuse, but the quick gifs floating around the Internet don't show the full story. This was a fumble 10 yards beyond the okay. BYU guy jumped on it and had laid there with the ball for a full 2-3 seconds before Boise guy speared him and started wrestling. Wrong? Yes. Unprovoked? Nope.

wants them "on the edge of playing within the rules".

Bronco Mendenhall:

"When I've seen BYU play at its best, the teams I've watched in the past, they are physically dominant, they are very tough. They are on the edge of playing within the rules because they are so aggressive."

Pretty shocking that a school and program that prides itself on having modest, upstanding men who follow an Honor Code have so many examples of its players getting into fights and taking cheap shots on opposing players.

Dude, did you see that huge fight that broke out in BYU's bowl game against Memphis last year? Some BYU player sucker punched a Memphis player while he had his back turned.

While I would never go so far as to say BYU is just a bunch of thugs, there are some apparently less than stellar human beings on that roster. Especially for a school that holds itself to a very high moral standard like BYU does.

My alma mater Georgia Tech had a 4-game home and home set up with BYU for 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017.  We canceled the final two games of that, and crap like this was a big reason.  People close to Tech's program were saying the players were saying this is by far the dirtiest and cheapest team they have ever played, and that includes some of college football's big boys like Georgia, Florida State, etc.  I hope Harbaugh beats these douchebags into the Michigan Stadium turf.

IMHO this is a big reason why  they can't find a conference.  What with their rules about not playing on Sundays, their staunch if hypocritical religious stance, and dirty play like this? If I was a Power 5 commish I wouldn't touch a team like this.

Hope Jim shows the team all of the clips in this post during BYU week, gives them the crazy man stare and shrugs in the universal language that translates to "Need I say more? Go beat these dirty fuckers."

Wow, I had no idea BYU was so dirty. That's some terrible stuff. Someone at SI or some such could make an interesting article about this, I would think (or has it been done already?).

Also, I hope we avoid injuries against these asshats.

I'm sure if we consult the Book of Mormon, this kind of behavior is completely justified....{thumbs through book}....don't worry, I'm sure it's in here somewhere....{continues to thumb through book}...no, no, wait, I'm sure we'll find it.
