I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I'm disappointed with all the negative press and the negative vibe coming from the fans. Utah returned 17 starters and beat USC AND Oregon last season. They're a polished team and they're good. They absolutely toyed with us last season in our house. This season...not so much. The first game of the season for us was plagued with "IFs" but those "IFs" give me hope. If Rudock hadnt over thrown Chesson on even ONE of those plays the game would have been tied at the end of the fourth. IF Deveon Smith hadn't dropped the ball, we'd have had a fresh set of downs and the pick 6 probably would have never happened. The media is saying we dont have a RB that can spot and hit holes but that's because Drake Johnson wasn't playing. Out of all the backs we have, he has the most burst, the best vision and is the most shifty. Once he's back, he WILL be our starting RB and the running game will look different.

As far as offensive line play, I didn't think they looked TOO bad. Rudock had more time in the pocket mor consistantyl than any QB I've seen in a few years. It's not the offensive line's fault that our starting RB didn't hit the holes that were available WHILE they were available. Utah has a stout front 7. Rudock took a couple shots but he was never sacked and Utah had more sacks than any team in CFB last season.

In a nutshell, we are basically a new team learning a new system who played a season opener in an enviornment that hasnt seen a season opener loss in 8 seasons. We're a new team who played against a veteran team and only lost by 1 score only because of a few "IF" factors. I think our team played well under the circumstances and showed MUCH more toughness than they did last season vs the same team...literally...the same team.

Stanford lost a football game, which sucks, but... PSU did some other stuff. I've never hated another team like PSU. Not MSU, not Ohio, not Appalachian State. I hope PSU never wins again. I think I actually individually personally hate all the people who decide to coach and play there. I even hate the secretaries and the equipment men. Anyone who chooses to enter that program. Maybe I'm being irrational. I just cannot imagine anyone signing up to shower in that shower room and change in that locker room.

He was nothing but a fucking cartoon character for the last 10 years of his career. Couldn't even get the name of starting qb right in interviews. All he did was make sure his players faces were shaved. Literally. That, and he is at least partially to blame for all those kids whose lives were ruined by Sandusky once he knew about it and still let it go on by giving Sandusky access to the program and facilities. The fact that one day soon they will likely bring back his status sickens me. I have a very, very rational hate for all of them and it has nothing to do with football. Fuck them.

I always thought JoePa was Bernie from Weekend at Bernie's the last 10 years of his career.  He was already dead, but they kept wheeling him around in golf carts, propping him up in the press box, on the sidelines, etc...  It was interesting that he died a few months after he was done coaching at Penn St. to prove my theory correct.

It is a matter of record here on MGoBlog that, over two years ago, I clearly stated that I wanted PSU to be kicked out of the Big Ten. That position did not generate much support.

Now that time has passed and we can all benefit from a sense of perspective, I want PSU to be kicked out of the Big Ten.

I thought they should have gotten SMU's death penalty. They got off so ridiculously easy considering the offenses. Would love to send them back to independent land and replace them with WVU or Pitt or anyone else for that matter (to include Alaska Fairbanks, Oxford, etc.)

Probably mentioned in other threads, but the punting was very solid. Of the 3 punts, one was nailed inside the 5 (IIRC), one was for a net of 50 yards and the worst was for 37 yards with no return.

There is almost no upside if you play a quality opponent early in the year.  If you win, it is nice but if you lose it puts you behind the 8-ball.  I love seeing the games, but I don't blame people for playing cupcakes.  I looked at our 2016 schedule and it is much easier to naviate than 2015's.

I had the exact same thought process this week. People at work were trying to get me going Friday morning (they're not fans of anyone just know I'm a HUGE Michigan fan) and all I had to say was "I saw some positives and I saw some negatives. Doesn't change my 7-5/8-4 thinking at all." I didn't expect a win Thursday night though; I think the people who did are the ones overreacting a tad. Season hasn't been lost.
