Its funny if you can play football, you will always get another chance somewhere.  Does Michigan ever take any second chance type players?  I can't think of any.  Michigan doesn't really take JuCo's.  They don't go after kids who might not qualify but somehow they get into other schools.

Most top level schools like Michigan don't take the second chance kids because they don't have to. You don't see many kids ending up at ND or USC on their second chance either. Why take the risk? There are enough kids who want to come who haven't screwed up once yet. Schools like Kentucky don't have that luxury.

When people call Nebraska a Midwestern state. It's to the point where I'd rather Michigan and Ohio be in the Mideast and give Midwest to the great plains states. As for Kentucky. I agree, however they're truly in the transition zone where north meets south. Virginia is the same way. Both are south by historical terms, and if you look at laws...they're southern. However when you compare them to those deep south states...you find that there are pockets out in the sticks that feel like the deep south but then you have more populated areas in both states that are far more progressive and northern feeling. IMO, the big cities in the deep south...still feel southern. Tidewater, Richmond, NoVA, Louisville don't feel southern to me. In fact a lot of Kentucky just feels like boring ass southern Ohio to me. Just my two pennies.

To be fair, Nebraska is right in the middle of the country. It's more accurate to refer to it as a Heartland state, but the trouble is that most people don't generally think of the Heartland as a separate region. It's not in the West or Southwest, so Midwest is best alternative. At least, that's my take as a former resident of Omaha, NE.

This kid wanted to play at Michigan, and stuck through everything while Hokes year fell apart, the coaching search went on, ect. Really hope this is the wake up call he needed and it works out for him. Bummer we won't see what he could have done wearing the maize and blue.

I'm not saying a kid shouldn't get a second chance, sounds like Cole already got at least a second chance at Michigan, but it amazes me that a kid could do something worthy of being booted off one team and lose his scholarship, and yet, another school is right there waiting to welcome him. It's not like this is the first time. It seems like there is a story like this about once every other year or so. Gholson is another recent example, as well as a kid that was let go by Georgia (I think) and Bama gave him a shot. I guess the further south you go, the more chances you get. Just sayin.

He isn't owed a college football scholarship. Of the stories are true, he had multiple opportunities to right the ship and he didn't. So yeah, if he can't stay clean nobody owes him more chances. He could move back home and go to CC, or get a job, or go to rehab and clean up if it's that bad. I don't think weed is some terrible drug or anything, but if he switched it with alcohol in this scenario and he got kicked out for constantly showing up drunk and missing classes because he was durnk, nobody would be feeling like he was robbed of an opportunity.

Hope the guy gets his life together. Listening to Ryan Leaf on Dan Patrick today...that interview should be a must listen for any athlete who tests positive once.

Knowing he got tough love here and had chances to get his shit together and can now just transfer and start fresh sucks. I hope he has someone in his life who will sit him down and get thru to him. Good luck young man...I hope you figure everything out and reach your potential as a human being and an athlete.

And I don't want this to be an indictment on weed...I couldn't care less if someone smokes weed. But (for example) if an employer gives you a second and third chance to NOT smoke weed and prove you're capable of contributing to the workforce then there's a problem. And that's (supposedly) what happened here. That's a situation where someone needs help and not another D1 scholarships and another place to enable him bc of his God given talents

Maybe it's a lil more watched now, but when I went to Northwestern for grad school (Rose Bowl years) my room mate was a walk on and he used to drop for a few players and would regularly tell me that everyone who smoked had their own designated pisser. Kinda makes me think Cole was lazy or just didn't give a fuck.

I wish him the best, but he apparently has a problem, and going to another football program probably isn't going to help with the undelying issues.

whose skil-set was thought to be good for wide receiver. I was first concerned when it was reported that he was slow to grasp the playbook. I'm curious whether the position switch had to do with that.
