They were better than he thought, did he say something else? RPI always cracks me up, like strength of schedule in football. it's really subjective, but I guess they use it to a certain extent.

Nobody should be giving Beilein any credit for scheduling. The guy voluntarily nukes our RPI year after year.

I must be missing the context for this statement.  Yeah, Furman has a nice record (19-8, 17-8 vs. D1), but they're only #89 per KenPom.  They'd be Michigan's ninth-best victory (just ahead of Nebraska at #91).  Now, if he's saying that they need to schedule more teams like Furman that end up in the top-100, I wholeheartedly agree.

BTW, IU is #49 per KP.

Unfortunately, the committee doesn't care about KenPom.  If they did, Michigan woudl be like an 8 seed right now.  They care much more about RPI and we haven't done a great job of gaming that system like other teams have.

We look respectable on paper at neutral sites and at home. But what is our issue with playing on the road??? I don't think weve done enough to make the NCAA tourney.

Yeah, I get that Furman has a good team and may be better than IU on a neutral court.  Don't short change this year's Michigan team.  ASSEMBLY EFFING HALL is a huge place to go get a road win!  The fact Indiana is down and hurt this year does not diminish the historical significance of that win.
