BC CB commit Brandon Sebastian to visit this weekend

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

HS teammate of Tarik Black who is an early enrollee, so he'll be there to help recruit.

I'd say buckle up.

I will be taking an official visit to The University Of Michigan this weekend #GoBlue

What Georgia is to Michigan, Michigan is to BC?

In all seriousness we were taking another QB, Brian said if he gets on campus, it's a done deal. Come on over Mr. Sebastian.

his rating will  go up

these are the 3-stars needed to fill out the class to build up the depth we are missing from the 2014 and 2015 classes

red shirt a season and be ready to be a solid backup guy and fill in like a Jeremy Clark type

No worries, once he commits he will go up 300 spots in 247 because #Michigan and people will be satisfied he became a better player the past 3 weeks.

My favorite part is when "I've looked at the HS tape, and this is a massive steal you guyz, he looks like Jourdan Lewis but is being penalized for playing in CT" guy shows up to give his analysis in his committment thread.

Let them come in and compete.  Willie Henry was near 1000, Josh Metellus was a "throw in" to get Bush.  Obviously the higher the ranking the better the probability but you just never know - Kalis was the "most college ready guard in recorded human lifetime"... and no one gave 2 thoughts about Cole.

Once you get past the first few 100 players the rest is a massive crapshoot.

No one gave two thoughts about Cole?!?!

You do realize 247 Composite rankings had him as a 4 star that was #8 nationally at his position and #127 overal regardless of position.  He was highly regarded.

247 Composite had Kalis as a 4 star that was #3 nationally at his position and #49 overall regardless of position.  This isn't that much higher than Cole.

NO ONE thought he was coming in to start as a freshman.  NO ONE.  Cole was a good prospect; Kalis people were losing their shit about as a potential All American and guy who could come in and play immediately and be All conference year 2, all american after that etc etc.

Hell Kugler got more hype than Cole on this board.

MASON COLE PREDICTION

Cole is an impressive player on film and should be one of the centerpieces of the 2014 class, but he's got a long way to go before he sees the field thanks to Michigan's newfound depth on the offensive line—that's not a knock on Cole, just a very good situation for Michigan.

He'll take a redshirt, not only because he needs to bulk up, but because Kyle Kalis, Blake Bars, Kyle Bosch, David Dawson, and Dan Samuelson all project to guard from the two previous classes—it's unlikely any of those guys will move to other positions, too, since the last two classes were strong at tackle and Patrick Kugler is the center of the future.

/takes a moment to appreciate Brady Hoke's offensive line recruiting

As an upperclassman, Cole should compete for a starting spot...

KYLE KALIS PREDICTION

http://mgoblog.com/content/hello-kyle-kalis

This kid is a 5-star (or close to it) for a reason. He has the potential to play as a true freshman, and with Michigan's questionable depth at offensive line, he could see a backup role in his first year on campus. There are a couple RT/G prospects in the class ahead of him though, so hopefully he can take a year to learn.

After that, however, three interior linemen depart, and Taylor Lewan could also be out the door to the NFL Draft if he has an excellent redshirt junior season. Playing time should be easy to come by, even if it's only a key backup role.

As an upperclassman (or redshirt sophomore), I wouldn't be surprised if Kalis took an iron grip on a guard spot, and became a dominating Big Ten offensive lineman. With his recruiting rankings, it's hard to project anything short of potential multi-year all-conference honors, and possibly even an early entry to the NFL Draft.

Mason Cole was rated the same as Tarik Black is and Kalis the same as McCaffrey.

I guess I am a dork, because I get excited over every OL top 250 recruit - and I was thrilled to see Cole.  I figure we need several 4 star+ OL recruits every year.  It doesn't matter if we have a great QB, WRs, and RBs if we have a porous OL.

No, he would not have started. When Lewis came back against Penn State, he and Stribling got starter's snaps and Clark got spot duty. Nothing about Stribling's play this season indicates that would have changed.

Obviously it has to do with the competition in CT, but he seems to be ranked kinda low. I can see him returning kicks, and possibly developing into a solid CB. His 100m dash time is .08 slower than Jabrill, so the kid can run. He is also another tall, long corner that this staff seems to covet.

several weeks back i saw 3 min highlight tapes or whatever on both sebastian and the nd commit hicks and thought sebastian was clearly better.  didnt see him tackle much at all and theres not a ton of coverage film but hes a decent athlete - and apparently don brown likes the kid so works for me too.

id love for them to flip paris ford from pitt (or any # of elite DB prospects out there) but sebastian looks like a solid option at this late stage

... I trust the coaching staff to evaluate talent and team positional needs much more so than I do recruiting analysts who may have no meaningful experience playing or coaching high level football.

That's not to say that anyone is infallible, but...
