Anyone else hear that Brady Hoke just became the Coach at Tennessee?

Supposedly Butch is out and Brady is in?

I mean I like the station in the football hierarchy it would cement UT into; as if they ever thought they'd ever become a top tier program, they'd know now that they're just a perpetual doormat.

That pays Hoke $750,000 for the remainder of the season, of which 50k is to be paid in cash and 700k is to be paid in delicious Rocky top barbecue and cheeseburgers.

Best of luck to him if this is the case. I have no ill will against him whatsoever, guy tried his best here. But if he is the interim HC, he’d better prepare his sphincter for massive penetration come Saturday.

Brady Hoke as a headcoach in the SEC East?

Mark Richt, even though he is no longer in that division or even that conference, has lost control of this program. It's the only reasonable explanation.

I liked Brady Hoke and he loved Michigan. He was a great recruiter with a good defensive coordinator and in his 3rd year, I wanted him to fire all of his offensive staff and start over. Hmm, sound familiar? I guess that after many millions of dollars later, we really haven't changed anything. So sad.

Just stop. Michigan would have to not get off the bus to lose the rest of their games and that would be the only way Hatbaughs third year would end the same as Hokes. Michigan is in a wayyyy better place with Harbaugh. I appreciate what Hoke did for the program, but if you can't see the difference you don't know football. It seems a lot of Michigan fans really know a lot less about football than they think.

life change noted. One thing is for sure – he may have a Twitter account with his name on it, but my guess is he may not even know it exists. Purely the property of the UT sports information department.

has TN had a coach during your lifetimes that made you set up and take notice? They were cheating like crazy, no doubt about it, doing some shit I thought was going to force the ncaa to put a SMU on their asses but got away with it in unbelievable fashion and then did some more. However, after the Johnny Majors - only Heisman winner in their history i believe - I did expect a higher level of football and got if for awhile. Other than Phat Phil though no sustained success. What beats the hell out of me is no matter who takes over down there they have instant recruiting an it doesn't matter how bad they get the recruiting stays the same. That tells me they are a GA away from benefitting from the Bama blueprint - also amazing how many known payers w/so few results- and if they get the right hire they could do something. Just a weird program, no. 8 all-time i think in wins but Butch Jones is just the latest in cfb millionaires that are nowhere near deserving. They speak badly about the ones that get paid large, i.e., Saban, Harbaugh, Meyer, et. al., but one must remember there are a lot more Jones than the former.

I won't speak to the credibility of the rumor, just thought it was worth knowing what it was.

Basilio saying CBJ’s people working on buyout

For those not wanting to read the whole thing (which I hope is most of you) the short version is that people around Jones have convinced him that he'd be better off resigning now than waiting around to get fired at the end of they year and that his agent is now working out the financial aspects with the UT AD. (Presumably this regards the buyout money, which he isn't guaranteed if he volunteers to walk away.)

Supposed timeline is after this coming Saturday's game, or after the Kentucky game on the 28th.

There's very little discussion here of who the interim coach would be, and what little there is isn't worth much (Les Miles, Jon Gruden, James Franklin*). But surely it would be Hoke--he's Associate Head Coach and there's nobody else on that staff who's remotely qualified to run a team even for five or six weeks.

*OK, I'll be fair. He didn't actually think they'd get Franklin mid-season.
