Another reason I like RR
Besides, believing Rich will get this thing turned around, I've always liked that he is very active in positive causes. Unfortunately the MSM rarely covers any of this instead they try to tear him down all the time.

so many people think he does this stuff only for the good press, but I think he is a genuinely a good guy.
a few other reasons I respect him -
1) having walk-ons and people on practice squad as team/game captains
2) not allowing shitty attitudes to dominate his team - no matter how good the players
3) not being political, though it has bit him in the ass a few times, I appreciate this as a personality trait
Any others?

And they head over to the sideline, and Rod has a look on his face that would make Satan piss his pants. Awesome, and hilarious (even though I would prefer players don't eff up so he wouldn't have to use it so much). Some of the best ones were definitely in Lewan's direction, after that personal foul in the end zone I thought Rod was going to give him a choke slam.

I would just put on my moustache and hope that it would deflect the fire and brimstone that come with a Coach Rodriguez tirade.

Removing Denard from the Illinois game and keeping Denard on the bench when Denard showed concussion symptoms during the game.

forgot about that. Thanks, this should have been first on the list.

I was going to post the same thing. Great to see a coach put a player's safety ahead of winning. That really took some courage to keep your best player on the bench in a crucial situation especially when you need a W more than any coach in the NCAA.

i was not a big RR believer either until this incident. In most cases any Coach, in a tie game, will tell his best player to go play if the player says, "I can go Coach". Not RR. He kept D on the bench "just in case". That is a "Big Picture" guy if you ask me.
David Brandon probably will not call me and ask for advice so I dont have to answer that question. However, if we win one of the next two games, I will call Mr. Brandon and give him my opinion.
And if we win both, can you say, "Coach of the Year"?
November 20th, 2010 at 1:19 AM ^
...if we were to win both I'd just give him the extension and the Sparty negative recruiting would end.
As for RichRod, he's a high character coach and has the stones to make decisions that are potentially difficult for his own future but that clearly benefit the health of his players. Can Nick Saban say that? Can Tressel? Can the Meathead?

Yelling at officials and players. I don't ever want to see Lovie Smith patrolling our sidelines.

Spending half time of the Super Bowl with Brock Mealer while he was rehabbing.

I wish he would do this to Drew Sharp with a football

Thanks for the reminder. I heard Coach on a radio spot promoting the cause but forgot to sign up until you just reminded me.
I do like how he is a very real person, with all of the +'s and -'s. I got the chance to meet him after he spoke at an event, andI came away with the perception that he is the same in person as he is for the public. I also believe he has his priorities in order for the program. He cares about the kids, winning (and in that order) and community, and I couldn't ask for more than that.

Win more, like even more.

What a great cause. Since I am already an organ donor, is there a way I can make a tally for the UM organ donor side? Or do you have to be a newly registered organ donor?

Did anybody notice how RR just went up to Danny Hope, shook his hand, said something like "nice game" or "good luck," and just walked away? RR has faced a lot of classless behavior while he has been at Michigan, but he has never stooped to the level of those who have attacked him. Instead, he conducts himself with class.
He may be from WV, but he is a true Michigan Man. I just hope enough people are able to see that.

It was very loud when Tate looked like he was leading a comeback against Iowa. Much louder then ND was when they took a late lead against us.
November 19th, 2010 at 10:02 AM ^
He doesn't run and jump around like a cheerleader when Michigan gets a first down. He doesn't even crack a smile when we score a touchdown. He's there to get shit done, and do it right. That's why I like Rich Rod.
Hard Edge.

He shows passion.

I got to admit I didn't like Rich Rod when he was at WVU but all VT fans are supposed to hate WVU especially when he coached against us
The way he left was contentious and he got a lot of unfair hate and then it started, so I was like "Back off clowns, let the guy coach"
And then he slowly starts to improve season after season but then people still rip and insult so I pretty much support him now...he also seems like a cool dude

Michigan is the greatest college football program ever. The previous coach won a NC and never had a worse record than RR's best. Let's stop the bullshit about "turning around." If RR can win half as many games as Bret Belima, we should be so lucky.
Correcting you out of the way...
Yep. Man seems to care about his players, the program and the athletic dept and does lots of good works. Too bad that gets underreported.
November 19th, 2010 at 11:03 AM ^
You have completely misinterpreted what the OP meant by "turning things around".
November 19th, 2010 at 7:58 PM ^
Is RR still leading the team onto the field? If so, I wish he wouldn't. Symbolically I just don't like it.

UNACCEPTABLE.

He makes me want to go out and tackle someone. I hope he gets the guys jacked like he does in this clip.
