Braylon Edwards

Edwards played for the football team from 2001 to 2004. During his senior season in 2004, he set Michigan season records for receptions (97) and receiving yards (1,330), and career records with 252 receptions, 3,541 yards, and 39 touchdowns, a Big Ten record. Edwards also set the Michigan career record for the most games with 100 or more receiving yards (17).

Edwards is the only wide receiver in Big Ten history and the third in NCAA history to gain 1,000 or more receiving yards in three consecutive years. Following his senior season, he won the Fred Biletnikoff Award given to the nation's top receiver, was awarded the Chicago Tribune Silver Football as the Big Ten's most valuable player, and was recognized as a unanimous first-team All American.

Edwards was drafted 3rd overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2005 NFL draft.

Looking back on my own submission now, I actually had Braylon in my "first five out" for this poll, not even in the Top 25, since we threw it open to the whole of Michigan athletics regardless of period. The last couple picks, aside from Oosterbaan, have shown some severe recency bias, and that's fine but as some have alluded to, it definitely hints at the general age of the people participating in the poll, I think.
