4 star DL 2022 Deone Walker Announces Visit to M Before Decision

Here's the tweet. Here he is on 247

Some background is that the kid might've been upset about a friend's recruitment to Michigan and was trending to Kentucky. Hopeful sign!

Why would a top prospect like him seriously go to KY when MBB is the main program and football is somewhat of an afterthought - only so much NIL money to go around in Lexington.  If his choice was Michigan vs. Bama, Georgia, TAM, Auburn, I can see that, but not KY.

All the best to the kid and hope he goes Blue!

Vance Marrow has always been successful with the bag in Detroit. I'm assuming that's what is going on here.

Would love to have him for sure, he is a great prospect. The anecdotes suggest he'll probably end up at UK however. If he hasn't joined the class yet, I'm not sure what else Michigan can demonstrate to him that they haven't already. I get the vibe he's looking for reasons to not pick Michigan.

It's not Michigan or Kentucky "football". I'm sure he will be sitting down with the D Line coaches of both schools and watching film, seeing which coach he prefers. If you're wondering, Anwar Stewart  is a better coach than Shaun Nua.

What evidence do you have to state Anwar Stewart is the better coach?

Edited: I decided to just do my own research and I am calling that a TERRIBLE take. Stewart was a grad assistant there in 2017-18. He then spent one year at App State and then was gifted a deep position group built by Leblanc. The guys  he is coaching now were there when he was a graduate student. Additionally, He has recruited a single three star player to UK according to 247.  The guy cannot touch Nua.

man - if people didnt see how much our DL improved this year, i dont know what to say. the middle of hte line become a force and we all know about the ends. thats after 6 months of coaching. if we can keep the coaching intact for a couple years, we'll be clemson 2 years ago! Cmon man!

It felt like Greg Mattison left the cupboard pretty bare. Defensive tackle is a position that often takes time to master and the 2017-18 defensive tackle class produced Jeter. That is it. Hinton and Smith were freshman and simply not ready to be relied on. He has the experience and depth now and it looks like into the future.

Hoping we can keep the best high school talent in the state home to play for us. I feel like it will return to that. It may be too late with Walker though. Man, Kentucky has been a thorn in our side for the past few years.

Indeed, a power-five team that, historically, has won fewer than half its games.  I know that they've been more respectable of late, and are in the SEC--and maybe I'm just too old--but I feel like losing kids to Kentucky is like losing kids to Maryland, Purdue, or NC State... which... doesn't make a lot of sense, at least on a consistent basis.  But, again, their being the SEC school most proximate to Michigan (I'm assuming) is probably the explanation.
