Walker, Grant, and Graham would be a tremendous DL haul.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:33 PM ^
Very beefy
December 8th, 2021 at 8:33 PM ^
Funny how winning fixes recruiting.
December 8th, 2021 at 10:01 PM ^
Let's save our victory laps, he is visiting Kentucky immediately after which is less than stellar
December 8th, 2021 at 4:57 PM ^
Walker's visiting today and tomorrow before going to Kentucky this weekend.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:02 PM ^
Nuts. Going to visit Kentucky afterwards is a bit of a downer.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:24 PM ^
Pretty sure Michigan is going to shine vs UK
December 8th, 2021 at 8:42 PM ^
Until they roll out that KFC bucket full of cash.
December 8th, 2021 at 10:12 PM ^
extra crispy or regular?
December 8th, 2021 at 6:27 PM ^
If the kid comes away more impressed by Kentucky football than Michigan, then more power to him. If we lose that battle it's because he REALLY wants to go to Kentucky, not that he doesn't want to come here.
December 8th, 2021 at 6:38 PM ^
Why would a top prospect like him seriously go to KY when MBB is the main program and football is somewhat of an afterthought - only so much NIL money to go around in Lexington. If his choice was Michigan vs. Bama, Georgia, TAM, Auburn, I can see that, but not KY.
All the best to the kid and hope he goes Blue!
December 8th, 2021 at 6:56 PM ^
Just so I’m clear on this…
Michigan is NOT a “basketball school” any more?
December 9th, 2021 at 1:00 AM ^
We ARE a basketball school. But we have more bandwidth than UK.
December 9th, 2021 at 2:50 PM ^
I would say we are an ALL SPORT school now
even field hockey & womens soccer did well this year
December 8th, 2021 at 6:59 PM ^
Sorry to tell you UK does not lack on NIL I can guarantee to you that.
December 8th, 2021 at 7:03 PM ^
They've had years and years of practice giving players cash.
December 8th, 2021 at 8:26 PM ^
...and Sacklers selling Oxy...
December 8th, 2021 at 7:14 PM ^
Vance Marrow has always been successful with the bag in Detroit. I'm assuming that's what is going on here.
Would love to have him for sure, he is a great prospect. The anecdotes suggest he'll probably end up at UK however. If he hasn't joined the class yet, I'm not sure what else Michigan can demonstrate to him that they haven't already. I get the vibe he's looking for reasons to not pick Michigan.
December 8th, 2021 at 8:54 PM ^
Would Wide Wes must be recruiting for the football team too.
December 8th, 2021 at 9:01 PM ^
Who is Vance???
December 8th, 2021 at 9:47 PM ^
It's not Michigan or Kentucky "football". I'm sure he will be sitting down with the D Line coaches of both schools and watching film, seeing which coach he prefers. If you're wondering, Anwar Stewart is a better coach than Shaun Nua.
December 8th, 2021 at 10:06 PM ^
What evidence do you have to state Anwar Stewart is the better coach?
Edited: I decided to just do my own research and I am calling that a TERRIBLE take. Stewart was a grad assistant there in 2017-18. He then spent one year at App State and then was gifted a deep position group built by Leblanc. The guys he is coaching now were there when he was a graduate student. Additionally, He has recruited a single three star player to UK according to 247. The guy cannot touch Nua.
December 8th, 2021 at 7:33 PM ^
Or, he might cancel the weekend visit :)
December 8th, 2021 at 5:01 PM ^
Hey recruiting is fun again. Maybe I'll fire up my Scout account.
December 8th, 2021 at 6:11 PM ^
While you're there, ask Tom Beaver if this one feels like a 50.00001%?
December 8th, 2021 at 6:39 PM ^
Shit totally forgot about that guy. Good times.
December 9th, 2021 at 9:58 AM ^
LOL I totally had this thought as well. I finally had to drop it for the sake of my mental health, but things are looking up...
December 8th, 2021 at 5:06 PM ^
Upset because his friend wasn't being made a priority for Michigan?
December 8th, 2021 at 5:11 PM ^
Yes, that's the story that keeps coming up. Not sure how Michigan can make amends about it, but I guess a visit is better than no visit.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:17 PM ^
If we can get Aubrey Solomon to commit after he put “Fuck Michigan “ on social media, I think we can smooth things over…granted Solomon ended up transferring ?
December 8th, 2021 at 5:19 PM ^
Ha. We got him right where we want him.
December 8th, 2021 at 6:35 PM ^
Aubrey played the greatest "long con" in recruiting history. Dropped the hint right before signing day and then waited two years to realize it!
December 8th, 2021 at 6:18 PM ^
His friend got processed.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:06 PM ^
man - if people didnt see how much our DL improved this year, i dont know what to say. the middle of hte line become a force and we all know about the ends. thats after 6 months of coaching. if we can keep the coaching intact for a couple years, we'll be clemson 2 years ago! Cmon man!
December 8th, 2021 at 5:12 PM ^
This year has been so insane. To think that we get a whole bunch of new, young coaches, and basically every position improves--it's so improbable. But I'm so pumped it did work out.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:20 PM ^
Nua was not new but many in the fan base wanted his head. I imagine his haters are on the bandwagon now.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:23 PM ^
I wonder how much Nua was hamstrung by the type of defense Brown ran. I wonder if Brown's defensive design tied Nua's hands, in other words.
A more conventional defensive philosophy...and we see better results on the field.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:59 PM ^
It felt like Greg Mattison left the cupboard pretty bare. Defensive tackle is a position that often takes time to master and the 2017-18 defensive tackle class produced Jeter. That is it. Hinton and Smith were freshman and simply not ready to be relied on. He has the experience and depth now and it looks like into the future.
December 8th, 2021 at 9:43 PM ^
Nua is not new, but I think his freedom of action is new. Seems like Brown had the clamps on him, especially about the type of player M recruited for the DT position.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:13 PM ^
While I understand what you're saying, I'd rather still be Michigan than Clemson, past, present, and future!
December 8th, 2021 at 5:25 PM ^
Clemsoning is a thing again
December 8th, 2021 at 8:26 PM ^
We were pretty damn close to 'Michiganing'... I'm so happy we didn't get there!
December 8th, 2021 at 5:13 PM ^
Man that’s a big boy. Come be our future Jordan Davis.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:16 PM ^
Come on down big fella
December 8th, 2021 at 5:24 PM ^
Hoping we can keep the best high school talent in the state home to play for us. I feel like it will return to that. It may be too late with Walker though. Man, Kentucky has been a thorn in our side for the past few years.
December 8th, 2021 at 6:10 PM ^
Indeed, a power-five team that, historically, has won fewer than half its games. I know that they've been more respectable of late, and are in the SEC--and maybe I'm just too old--but I feel like losing kids to Kentucky is like losing kids to Maryland, Purdue, or NC State... which... doesn't make a lot of sense, at least on a consistent basis. But, again, their being the SEC school most proximate to Michigan (I'm assuming) is probably the explanation.
December 8th, 2021 at 6:18 PM ^
Vince morrow is the reason. They also had a great year this year and were second in the sec East
December 8th, 2021 at 7:03 PM ^
Which is like Minnesota of the B1G west.
December 8th, 2021 at 8:42 PM ^
Who is Vince Morrow?
December 8th, 2021 at 9:32 PM ^
Vince Marrow is the associate head coach at Kentucky. He’s a former NFL tight end with deep connections in Northwest Ohio / SE Michigan.
