2023-24 MBB schedule released
At first glance, it is not too bad. No trip to IU or the Kohl Center. Manageable away-only games. I think we'll need all the help we can get next year.
MICHIGAN
Home: Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin
Away: Maryland, Northwestern, Penn State
Home/Away: Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers

Only have to play Northwestern once! Whew!
(yes we are at that stage)

Meh. Boo Buie is finally gone.

Beat them twice this past season.

The BPONE for basketball is out of control. Last year was frustrating but 11-9 was the 5th best league record with so much going the wrong way in the luck (make your own luck) category.

Yea, and then we lost our three most talented players and like 90 percent of our offense. I think the BPONE is pretty well justified at this point.
90% of our offense that went 18-16, got knocked out in the 2nd round of the NIT, and in the words of many you..."sucked"?
Lol you can't have it both ways where you talk shit about last year's team and then complain about how players from that team are gone. That's ass backwards.
Last year's team was a talented, yet ultimately disappointing bubble team that consistently fell apart when it mattered. This year's team is shaping up to be a Big Ten doormat. Those two statements are not "having it both ways"
On the other hand, the football team has gone to the CFP twice in a row and next year looks to be the most talented team Michigan has fielded since '97. It will certainly be the most talented team in the Harbaugh-coached era.
And the hockey team is coming off back-to-back Frozen Fours with a Hobey Baker winner last season.
At least there is a bright side to consider to balance the current BPONE of MBB.
Right now, Michigan sports fans are Even Stevens
With a junior all american and 2 first round NBA picks. Now we're trying to fix the problem with a hodge podge of players after another round of transfers and recruits that just didn't work out, most of which have never played together. Some concern is justified.
A 1 player recruiting class in this environment is the unforgivable sin. If you recruit a top 50 player and they are wearing a Michigan uniform you better plan on them being gone.
No we're not. We beat them twice. By 7 and 17(!).
Y'all gotta stop with this bullshit after one season where Michigan was the Nebraska Football of losing close games.
Michigan in the 3 seasons prior Michigan was ranked as high as 4th, 2nd, and 4th.
Howard was 23-5 in '20-'21. Michigan went to the Elite 8. The following year we were in the Sweet 16.
Enough with the nonsense like this is Brian fucking Ellerbe.
TY. It's gotten beyond ridiculous. Yes this year sucked, and next year may as well. But jumping off a cliff for 1, maybe 2, bad seasons is crazy.
36-30 last two years with 5 Top 50 recruits and a All-Big Ten center is acceptable? Almost losing to EMU, Ohio, Lipscomb and losing to CMU in 2022 somehow gives you hope heading into 2023?
no, we're not.

I'd rather play Minnesota and Penn State twice and Purdue and Illinois only once

Id rather play at Indiana than at Maryland next season.

Seeing UTEP on the schedule makes me wonder if the athletic department is actively trying to schedule games with schools we've never played.
Next year we have E. Carolina, 2024 Fresno State and Arkansas State, and 2025 New Mexico visits. All teams we have never played before.
That's not really the "schedule," per se.
You return two of Dickinson, Bufkin, Howard I could agree with the no BPONE.
You return one with the similar portal work we've done I could see calling for no BPONE
We lost three and almost the entire offensive production from last years team while making some good moves. The moves we have made are a far cry from a guaranteed tournament selection and getting back to where Michigan basketball has been used to being the last 10 years.
We are 1 impact transfer from having a legit shot of enjoying next season. As it stands right now im getting huge Amaker vibes from what we have now.

Wow, such a high ceiling
Thats where we are now.
