#1 Rated Recruit and their commitment timelines.

Like so many things in life, momentum seems to be a key to success. Having a true difference maker, such as Rashan Gary, commit to Michigan (or any other school for that matter) would seem to add a huge wave of excitement to a program and perhaps nudge recruits that are on the fence to go Michigan's way. It would bring a whole new level of excitement that might truly help finish out a class strong. Kids like to feel they are a part of "something special". That being said, I don't blame Rashan one bit for his timeline. It is a massive decision and the dude has perhaps more options than any other recruit on the planet. Furthermore, I cannot remember the last time the consensus #1 recruit had pledged to a school well in advance of signing day. Can anyone remember the last consensus #1 recruit to commit early to a school?

Matt Barkley, QB out of Mater Dei HS, CA was a consensus number one ranked recruit and committed to USC more than a year before signing day in Jan 2008.
