Game Day Weather

Fantastic weather for game 2! High pressure moving into the Great Lakes region will help to bring back some sunshine this weekend after such a cloudy Friday. Gotta have a brighter sky for the Military Appreciation Game! Thank you, THANK YOU, to all those who have served and are serving our country!! A special Go Army shout-out to my brother-in-law, Logan, a UMich alumni in Maryland :) It'll be a little cool for this time of year (we should be in the mid 70s) but comfortable, and with the sun and lighter breeze it's a perfect day for football. Let's go blue!

Tailgating

You may want the jacket in the morning! With a lot of the Friday clouds clearing out, temps are able to drop into Saturday morning. We're setting up the tailgate tents in the mid 50s, not far from normal. It's one of those mornings where you're trying to balance holding the coffee and setting up the poles! Winds will be light as the sun comes up. If you're heading out mid-morning, by then we'll have a NNE wind that's just enough to rustle the leaves, around 5-7mph. We're closing in on 60 by then with a few clouds. If you're making that last trip to the store or heading to the tailgate around lunchtime, wonderful weather awaits ya! Mid 60s for the midday with some passing clouds, still seeing plenty of sun. Not a bad day to be the grill master :) With Saturday's game honoring our heroes, you can share photos of those serving or who have served with #MGoTroops to have them recognized during the game. We all know how cell service gets during a game, especially in the stadium, so maybe do this before going through the gates!

Kickoff

Grab the hat and sunglasses and head into the game a little early! The Chuters, a veteran-owned and operated parachute team, are going to jump into the stadium and two huge American field flags will be held by military veterans and service members during the national anthem. Also make sure to note the 16 American flags up around the stadium to honor those who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces. We'll have awesome weather for the flyover, too! The flyover will be done by three Blackhawk helicopters from the Michigan National Guard. Kickoff will be comfy with sunshine, some clouds, low humidity, and low 70s. Winds will be out of the NNE around 7-8mph.

Halftime

Sun & clouds continue for the afternoon with temperatures hovering near 70! Grab a snack and a drink and then take a moment to see some other neat things around the Big House. The Michigan National Guard is bringing in some military equipment and vehicles - last year they had some cool displays and a Field Ambulance, for example.

Post-Game

We'll keep that lighter NNE breeze for the remainder of the game continuing to see some clouds here and there. Temps will still be close to 70 leaving through the gates. It'll be a beautiful evening if you're planning on hitting downtown for dinner or drinks! You may just want to head back to the tailgate and grab your jacket from earlier in the morning, depending on how late you plan on staying out to celebrate the win over UNLV! We'll drop to the mid 60s into the evening, falling to near 60 by the late-night hours, and winds turn light. Skies will be mainly clear through last call with mid 50s - see, aren't you glad you grabbed your jacket?! Low 50s for Sunday morning with the second half of the weekend featuring low 70s and some sun; good weather if you traveled at all for this one. The Lions won Thursday night, I think we can keep the blue winning streak going this weekend! Let's goooo!!!

CHRISTINA BURKHART IS THE MORNING METEOROLOGIST FOR ABC IN FLINT, MI. SHE GREW UP IN ANN ARBOR AND ASSOCIATES SATURDAYS WITH MICHIGAN FOOTBALL. GO BLUE!!

Shoot! Sorry friends, I really thought more of these stubborn clouds would move out like they did a bit to the west. Temps are still on track but expect more cloud cover! Cheers to doing better next week, go blue!
