Game Day Weather

Do you ever watch a game on tv and you're ok with not being there in person? (You're probably thinking uh duh- last week :P ) I'm talking about the weather though! This will be one of those that will be a bit chilly and we'll be lucky if we can finish the game before rain moves in.

High pressure to the south helps to give us sunshine for most of tomorrow. We have a strong low pressure system moving through the region later Saturday and Sunday which will bring up and down temps, windy conditions, and rain.

Sunshine to start Saturday with morning temps in the mid 20s and afternoon highs in the mid 40s. You'll notice clouds increasing in the afternoon out ahead of late-night rain. Winds will shift from the S to SE and pick up to end the day also.

Cloudy skies for the first part of the game with a SE wind at 15-20mph and a temperature near 40. We might catch a stray shower, but the chance is small. Temps will actually rise as a warm front moves in, adding on a couple of degrees by the end of the game. This front will bring rain - it's definitely iffy to get the game in before it arrives - with winds up to around 20mph, gusting into the mid 20s (small trees sway, larger branches move). Wind chills for the entire game will be in the low 30s (see? Looks pretty good on that tv, right?!)

If you went to a friend's to watch the game, take it easy driving home. Friendly reminder, you're loved and needed in this world so don't drink and drive - get a ride or have a sleepover! Yes, it's the cool adult thing to do. :) Overnight winds will be southerly at 20mph, gusting to 30mph - this is when you can hear the wind whistling and it's tougher to use an umbrella. Winds that high can blow lighter objects, like garbage cans, into the road. You'll notice the gusts driving, especially in a higher profile vehicle. Rain will continue for the night.

Temps make it to around 50 Sunday morning before falling for the rest of the day. We'll have passing showers through the day Sunday with winds gusting to 40+mph - winds that high can cause tree damage and power outages. Quite the opening day! Hopefully the game is better than this weather! Get that win over Wisconsin guys! Go Blue!!

Thank you for the post. Even though we cannot go to the stadium (or field a organized team the last two weeks),  your post is a tradition that i appreciate .

As of midday Saturday, rain chances increase to 60% at kickoff, then 90% by halftime and over 90% for the rest of game. Steady rain likely most of the second half.

How well will Michigan's run game be? They'll need it.

Go Blue!
