OT: Anyone drinking anything good tonight?
It's late on a Friday (well Saturday now I guess), and though I'm trying my hardest to get the girlfriend up to date on South Park (ugh she's on season four) she's fallen asleep with the promise of an early alarm clock. So here I am with my beer and missing the open threads of just a few nights ago.
My MGoDrink for the moment is Goose Island's Honkers Ale. First night with it, and it is not disappointing. Anyone else having anything noteworthy? Or have enough of something to make it noteworthy?

Love SoCo. My roommate and I lived off handles of SoCo 100 my freshman year. Damn those were some good nights.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:41 AM ^
wow, you sir are a total badass, we bought a 100 proof liter on accident before (we went to super liquor IV and asked for a 5th and they gave us a liter) and finished it and wondered why we felt like shit the next day.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:50 AM ^
Yea, by good I meant interesting. Oh, freshman year.

true story, my gf went to florida and during hurricane katrina for some reason all/some of the trucks that were supposed to be going to louisiana were re-routed to gainesville. they sold beer for $5 (it was around that, shes alseep so i can't confirm the price but it might have been less) a 24 pack (bud/bud light) and the trucks went like water in the desert. Our friends bought enough to make a throne in their garage, there are pics of them sitting in it
January 15th, 2011 at 12:56 AM ^
Sooo cool. Especially considering what you pay out on the town or at a sporting event. I'd kill for a throne of Bud at a Wing's game.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:58 AM ^
the only problem is how do you keep that much beer cold. they had a party that night since they couldnt figure out how to do it
January 15th, 2011 at 1:02 AM ^
Yea, but...wouldn't that be a good problem to have? "My insanely cheap, not that terrible beer won't keep cold for long!"
January 15th, 2011 at 12:42 AM ^
So Co is where it's at player. My personal preference is straight from the bottle but shots aren't bad either.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:00 AM ^

January 15th, 2011 at 1:13 AM ^
Same school colors, in-state and/or cheaper tuition, close enough to drive up for games, plenty of M fans in the city. What's not to like?
January 15th, 2011 at 1:16 AM ^

Ever been to the Village Idiot bar? It's a little pricey but they have really good pizza.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:33 AM ^
i try to stay out of ohio
January 15th, 2011 at 1:42 AM ^
It's really not that bad as long as you know some good restaurants. The homer types are usually too broke for anything more expensive then KFC.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:31 AM ^
I got accepted, which is something that you will never be able to say.

I was shocked to see how quickly you got freed earlier, FuManBlue. I gave you my three (or maybe four?) plus ones I could on the thread, but god damn. I remember seeing one of your comments at like +125. Truly incredible.
PS- Pick up any good beer (or wine or liquor) in Bolivia?
January 15th, 2011 at 12:33 AM ^
January 15th, 2011 at 12:37 AM ^
Well congrats to you for being in the black (and at +1500!?!?!?!?). Must have been a hell of a journey. Here's to Bolivia, FuMan.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:42 AM ^
If FuMan keeps up this level of pos-banging, he'll be at +10,000 in a week.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:48 AM ^
10,000 or no 10,000, he looks happy to be out of jail and back....into the big house?
January 15th, 2011 at 2:56 AM ^
bolivian cocaine... isnt that a song??
January 15th, 2011 at 1:17 AM ^
Congrats, fuman. Time to change the avatar now that you've been released to the half-way house.
edit: oops, my bad. Looks like you're on your way. Enjoy your night.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:52 AM ^
You are my mgoblog hero. I aspire to get out of Bolivia some day.

I told a joke I had heard on the radio earlier that week on the Norte Dame thread. I'm guessing Brian deemed that the joke was inappropriate, which I agree it was. I was never able to see the reaction to the joke, but I'm guessing it wasn't good. I signed on again later that night and notice that I had to enter CAPTCHAs on every post.
That is basically the story about how I got pwned.

The ND rape/sexual assault thread?

January 15th, 2011 at 12:29 AM ^
and you're on a budget, Corner Creek is a great choice. $5 off at the liquor store tonight! It really is better than most.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:33 AM ^
Where did you find that seal of the University? I never saw anything like that when I was a student there.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:30 AM ^
Not a bad brown ale. Big Sky Brewing Company, Missoula, MT!
January 15th, 2011 at 12:32 AM ^
I'm stuck in Fort Wayne, IN at the moment, so none here. I've heard great things though. I'm originally from Chicago, but haven't gotten into the Goose Island stuff until recently.
Have you tried their Matilda? Very good stuff.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:36 AM ^
I like Matilda as well. Very good!
January 15th, 2011 at 12:43 AM ^
Since you seem to know your way around Goose Island.
Have you tried their Bourbon Stout? I was back home over the holidays, but at $22 a four-pack, I figured I'd better have some damn good advice before buying it.
On the other hand, it's like 13% abv. So at the very least:
Budweiser= 5
GI Bourbon Stout= 13
1BS=2.66 Budweiser (4BS=10.64B=feeling pretty damn good)
Although if it's anything like their other beers, that'd be an abomination.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:56 AM ^
New Holland Brewery makes a fine stout aged in bourbon barrels. Very good bourbon flavor! I have to restock on my next trip to MI!
I'll have to try the GI bourbon stout. I'm sure it is great!
January 15th, 2011 at 12:57 AM ^
Had that this Christmas with family in Grand Rapids, very good.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:09 AM ^
Thats to bad. Ft. Wayne sucks.
January 15th, 2011 at 1:12 AM ^
Being a college student, it's not that bad. My gf is on the softball team here, so that might make it a bit more tolerable, if you catch my drift.
OT to this response: Wooooo! 1,000!
January 15th, 2011 at 12:31 AM ^
just the way I like 'em.
January 15th, 2011 at 12:32 AM ^
Newcastle Brown Ale all by my lonesome
January 15th, 2011 at 9:43 AM ^
You should try Sweetwater 420 or IPA. Its a micro out of atlanta. I don't know how wide thier distribution stretches. I live in the south and its everywhere. Its very good if you can find it.
January 15th, 2011 at 10:01 AM ^
Sweetwater has a very limited distribution- I think getting it here in North Carolina is as far North as you can.
