The NBA Finals Game 7 Thread
Let's say goodbye to the season. Any other NBA fans on here? It's been a while since the Fnials has made it to a Game 7.
Any good live streams?
I don't really have a horse in this race, I just hope it's a great game to watch.
This game is gonna cause me to lose some hair. I'm freaking out on the couch...every shot making me freak out a bit.
Sheed is off to a decent start for the Celtics. Hopefully he can keep it up. I would love to see him get a 2nd ring... even if it is with Boston.
I'm going to be upset when this is over. Soccer sucks and there is nothing good on until Nfl preseason.
The Tigers are doing pretty good.
Lakers coming back in this one. Wow, that first quarter sucked for them.
Never thought it would seem like the Lakers will win in spite of Kobe
This is gonna be a boring game! When does the season start? :(
The C's are not going to win the rebound battle tonight, so they better continue to step up. Great game so far!
Celtics are doing what they have to do so far but I keep waiting for the Lakers to show some life.
Kobe 4/18 for 11pts so far
57-53 Celtics thru 3. My bet is on Kobe ripping their hearts out in the 4th.
This game kind of reminds me of the Pistons/Pacers series in 2003-04. Crazy defense... but, it really doesn't compare to it as that went on for the entire series.
I am not a Lakers fan, nor am I a Celtics fan. But on a very primal level, I see a team wearing mostly yellow (and a purple that almost looks dark blue) and a team wearing green and white, and I just have the instinctual reaction to root for the home team. Just can't cheer for any team wearing green.
1:30 is a lot of time left but it looks like the Celtics gave this one away. It almost seems like they used all there energy in the first 3 quarters. They have been terrible thus far in the 4th.
I was about to agree with you but wow...I've never seen this many guys on both teams step up from three point range this late in a game this big. Crazy.
EDIT: And ANOTHER one, by Rondo...after those free throws though, it might actually be over now. Maybe not, if we see another three...
...are starting to rain down. Looks like Sheed just fouled out.
...repeat as NBA Champs.
That collapse was sparty-esque (in football).
god I hate the Lakers
Phil said it best; the Celts know how to lose in the fourth quarter.
It was a pretty good game, just another bucket at some point by the Celtics, and we might have seen a buzzer beater situation at the end. Great series. Hopefully the Pistons will find a way to pull themselves out of the mire and get back to this stage sooner rather than later.
First Katy Perry, and now the lakers. I need to go steal a couple nukes to destroy California.
Artest giving a shout out to his shrink was absolutely priceless.
His whole interview was hilarious, he was so excited. I can't help but be happy for him, he seems to have grown up a lot from the old Ron Ron, and he really came up huge throughout the series.
I want to say I am happy for him, but that's probably only because he played for LA this year. I won't forget what happened in Detroit.
My roommate is convinced Ray Allen was paid to throw the game....turnovers, missed shots, bad defense by Allen.
Bad defense by Allen? What game were you watching? Kobe Bryant scored 23 points...and shot really poorly. All of that was Ray Allen's doing. The TO's and missed shots I'll give to you, but...defense? HELL NO
"All of that was Ray Allen's doing?"
I'm sure he had an effect, but to say Kobe shot poorly all because of the defender is pure ignorance.
I'm glad Kobe got his 5th ring. He really should be thanking his teammates who helped to keep them in the game. It was a good game, a little sloppy at the beginning but it was good till the end.
I've always liked Kobe, as a competitor he has very few rivals. Getting closer to MJ doesn't hurt either.
to MJ.
Just glad KG didn't get another ring. King of cheap shots.
they had it! up 13! Kobe hit some key shots in the 4th though, gotta give him that.
Tough pill to swallow last night. At least it was a good game. I remember predicting they would beat the Heat in 6 games but also thinking there was a good chance they could lose that series. I never expected them to get by Cleveland or Orlando. Definitely a good season and it was great getting to watch so many games
am just elated that Paul Pierce didn't get another ring. I can't stand that guy.
When was the last time the finals MVP missed 20 shots in game 7?
Gasol was the real MVP. I gained a lot of respect for that dude
Finals MVP encompasses the entire series, not just game 7. Before the game there was talk that Kobe was going to win Finals MVP even if LA lost last night....that's how well he played in the first six games of the series. Yeah he struggled last night but Gasol was non existent for half the series....there's no way you could have taken him over Kobe.
Well considering only a handful of finals go the 7 game, probability would say not often.
But Kobe played well just about every game, he's entitled to a bad game. Some of the analysts felt he shot bad because after all the other players played like shit he felt he had to take the shots causing him to rush and take bad shots. You saw how much better he played offensively in the 2nd half.
Kobe also had about 15 rebounds and plays excellent D, No matter who he put it on, their numbers suffered. So yes Gasol might have been the 2nd best player on the team throughout the course of the series but Kobe was obviously the MVP.
NBa is not what it used to be. Kobe will never hold a fart next to MJ.
