Lack of fan interaction with Michigan Football
This was mentioned the other day in another thread and I thought it would be interesting discussion to bring to everyone.
Fan interaction is dead. The Men's Football Experience and Women's Football academy were axed years ago as well as Fan Day.
Meanwhile, Michigan Basketball has selfie night where you meet the players and coaches. Hockey has Skate with the Wolverines and Softball obviously has their academy and makes the players very accessible.
And before "distraction" is brought up as an excuse, Alabama sure seems distracted by their fan day which is also known as the Running of the Gumps. Playoff teams Georgia, Clemson and Oklahoma also have fan days.
What are some ways you would help rebuild fan access/interaction?
Looking back at your "shit on the Football program" post yesterday, you posted the same exact thing later on down the post as a response to someone... was it really necessary to start an entirely new thread with the same exact content as that post?
Ohio State puts on a nice event where the fans come out on the field and "practice" with the players.
Doesn't seem to hurt them too much.
In the mid-1980s when I went to school at Pattengil Elementary School, Bo Schembechler used to bring football players, along with basketball players, cheerleaders, and athletes from other assorted sports annually to the school in the evenings for a fundraiser, complete with raffles and lots of Michigan stuff up for auction. I got to meet Harbaugh and Bo and get their autographs. Tim McCormick held me up to dunk a basketball, and I got my picture in the A2 News with Butch Wade. Butch spend the evening teaching us kids how to shoot free throws (I'm kidding).
I mention it because it is the sort of fan/player interaction that Harbaugh himself engaged in when he was a student at UM. Would be great if they started doing this again.
about ancilary stuff. Just beat your rivals, keep M relevant and respected in college football landscape. Run a clean program and don't embarrass M on a National stage. Pretty much sums up how many feel.
