META: Stepping away for a couple weeks.
I wrote a thread a couple days ago on Twitter about my health and what will be a couple-week absence. Copy-pasted because I'm feeling lazy:
A health update of sorts: I'm going to be mostly absent from writing (at least that you'll see right away) for the next couple weeks. I'm taking next week to write my articles for the preview magazine and the following week I fly to Alabama for surgery.
This should be minor and quite beneficial. I'm getting my increasingly sick gall bladder removed and having my esophagus repaired to solve my long-running issues with acid reflux. It's all part of the big-picture plan to get fully healthy. At the very least, it should make me more comfortable and improve my quality of life, and I'm quite optimistic it'll continue pushing me down the path to being asymptomatic.
I look forward to returning soon in better health, and can't say enough how much I appreciate the support and well-wishes.
Hope you are back at full speed soon!
I hope all goes well Ace and you can say goodbye to days like these.
But seriously, hope everything goes well for you.
all the plants are gonna die!
Safe travels, Ace. Hope everything works out as planned. During your recovery, if you happen to see Saban walking around, give him a swift kick in the nads for all of us.
Best of luck Ace!
Good luck.
Looking forward to you returning to full health. Good luck!
Get well! Get back! :)
Good luck and get well soon!
Good luck, Ace. Hope everything goes well.
Best wishes for safe travels and complete success for you, your surgeons and the full healthcare team that will be helping with your pre-op, the surgery and the recovery. Looking forward to reading your next post that will be filled with positive news.
As a long-ago member of the sports media and a more-recent member of the Michigan Family thanks to a child who's a "Double Wolverine", I'm always grateful for your contributions to my knowledge of Michigan Wolverine sports.
You've certainly gone through more than your share of health crap.
One positive thing to share - when I had my g.b. removed, my elderly surgeon said he'd done literally thousands of the procedure without any significant problems. He went so far as to say: "All surgery involves risk, and it's my obligation to communicate that to you. That said, you'll be fine".
I was home a few hours later, and working the next day. No problemo.
Hope your health continues to improve. Take care, and get better.
Best of luck and much prayers for you.....
Ace.,,,
I enjoy your writing. Look forward to more.
Get well.
(side note: Alabama?! None of my business, but that's the first I've ever heard of someone traveling to Alabama for surgery. Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, UofM Hospital, but never Alabama. Seems like there'd be at least one expert MGoSurgeon on the board who'd get you a deal.)
University of Alabama-Birmingham is an excellent med school and hospital

James Andrews is in Alabama.
for your trip to AL, safe travels and speedy recovery.
We'll save a couple of troll accounts for you to kill upon return. :-)
Best wishes from Kansas, Ace. And.....did he say he was writing articles for the preview magazine?? Is it bad that I got really, really excited about that? HTTV!!
Good luck Ace. Hope this gives you the relief that you need!
