OSU can't recruit Micah Parsons because of violation
OSU self reported a violation, and because it was considered so egregious, they stopped recruiting Parsons
https://www.thelantern.com/2017/12/self-reported-ncaa-violations-preven…
Five-star defensive end Micah Parsons was once a favorite to land at Ohio State — that was until Ohio State agreed to stop recruiting the class of 2018 prospect because of self-reported NCAA violations that occurred during his official visit on Sept. 9.
Ohio State self-reported the violations to the NCAA on Sept. 26. The violations, which The Lantern obtained through a public-records request, were the result of improper contact that happened during the recruit’s visit to the set of ESPN’s College GameDay at The Oval prior to the Buckeyes’ game against Oklahoma.
As a result of the infractions, Ohio State agreed to no longer recruit Parsons and declared him ineligible for an unknown amount of time.
Parsons is unnamed in the self-reported violation records, due to FERPA protection, and is referred to as a “2018 prospective student-athlete.” But he is believed to be the recruit implicated in the report because he was photographed on the College GameDay set and retweeted pictures of him with former Ohio State quarterback and current College GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit, former Ohio State running back and College GameDay celebrity guest picker Eddie George, and College GameDay analyst Lee Corso and host Rece Davis.

Kinda don't care...just as long as they don't end up with him, that's a close second.

Because he will end up at Penn ST. And he is an elite talent. I think one of the top ATH's in the whole class.

I'll gladly trade a loss to psu for a win over those fuckers in ohio.

A vast majority of its O in Barkley, Gesicki, plus Hamilton and Blacknall from the WR corp. On D they lose both DT, the WILL, MIKE and his backup, and the entire secondary. Plus we get them at home. Oh yeah I forgot they also lost maybe their most important piece in their O coordinator.

Very doubtfull....
most sites list us in the "also-ran" groupings with little or no interest. Pedophile State looks to be the leader.

ESPN is saying that we have a shot at Five-star pass-rusher Eyabi Anoma....Is this valid or just ESPN being ESPN?

How nice is it for OSU to simply stop recruiting a 5-Star that lists them as a leader? We'll get there eventually - I have faith.
December 19th, 2017 at 10:59 AM ^
and they will just move on to the next 5*
December 19th, 2017 at 12:51 PM ^
We will not. They will always out recruit us...sorry. We'll get close some years and not so much others. We will not be at their level with consistancy ever unless something major happens to vastly change the course of modern college football and where talent is located.

This statement is getting out of control. I'll list the number of five star recruits total for the last five years of some pretty good recruiting schools.
- Alabama (27)
- USC (14)
- Georgia (11)
- Ohio St & LSU (9)
- .
- Clemson (7)
- Michigan (5)
- Oklahoma (3)
There's pretty much Alabama and then everyone else when it comes to five stars. Ohio State has four more five star recruits in the last five years than Michigan. Alabama has 18 more five stars in the last five years than Ohio State. Ohio State is not Alabama. This data also icludes a coaching change during that span for Michigan. Want to talk about four star recruits? Michigan isn't in bad shape there either considering the '14 & '15 slump. Average number of four star recruits per year.
- Ohio State (15.8)
- Alabama (14.8)
- LSU (14.6)
- Georgia (13.0)
- Michigan (12.6)
- USC (10.8)
- Oklahoma (10.4)
- Clemson (9.6)
I'm really not sure how this narrative got so blown out of proportion. The one where we aren't recruting well. We are recruiting just fine. The bubble will break soon enough once the offensive line and QB are addressed. This ride is about to get real fun. Put on your seat belts folks.

One, OSU is getting more 5-stars than UM. Two, you're only looking at 5-stars and not total recruiting rankings. Look at the average player ranking over that span or average class ranking and you'll also see OSU's is higher. Three, that is only the last 5 years. This trend has been going on much longer than the last 5 years. When OSU has a coaching change they are less affected than UM. And, they've had more coaching stability that UM has, both of which make a difference. Can you find any significant length of time where UM out-recruited OSU in either overall class ranking or average player ranking?
So, the point stands that UM may get close here and there, but OSU will continue to out-recruit UM as it always has and that should be expect as the way things are and always have been. No one is saying UM isn't fairly close most of the time. Some years they are closer than others. But, OSU has consistently out-recruiting UM for quite some time and likely will continue to.

he has a point. Posts that are lacking any form of punctuation, have multiple mispellings, etc. should be fair game, but replies that just cherrypick one innocent spelling error or grammatical mistake are pointless.

to point that out than to get an angry response from the poster who was corrected. We do a decent enough job of policing the board police.
